Hi guys, bellow is my spec:
600W power supply.
I'm looking for a new graphic card better then the GTX 460 i have. and it has to be WAY BETTER. about from 300$ - 400$. Don't want to go any further. I'm thinking about getting an ATI 7970. I'm looking for a card that trwice or triple the performance of the GTX 460.
What do u guys think? I will upgrade my whole system if that is needed.
Thanks

Or should i go with GTX 670?
It depends on what you're willing to pay. A Radeon HD 7870 will get you about double the graphical performance of your current card:

Above that, you could get a Radeon HD 7950, GeForce GTX 670, or Radeon HD 7970, and they're all priced in line with their performance:

The 7950 and 7970 are perhaps better deals if you want the free games (DiRT Showdown, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Nexuiz). They're also by far the best if you care about GPU compute. On the other hand, if you're into energy efficiency, the 7870 and GTX 670 are better. And if you want some vendor-specific feature, then that would tell you whether you want an AMD card or an Nvidia one.

For $439.99 + 3 free games this factory overclocked gigabyte 7970 card is worth it.

i dont need free games, i need the card that can run all the latest game with high setting. I'm about to play guild wars 2
and how good if we compare ati 7970 - gtx 670 - gtx 460?
7870 performance twice as fast the gtx 460. but i have a budget 300-450. i want some thing better

Use this to compare the differences. There are several cards in the $200-$300 range that will run everything on high, you don't have to have the most expensive card to do that, imo.

yeah i know those cards that can run games with high setting. But that is when there is no seige in game or no mass pvp. When it comes to those .... I know, even if i buy the expensive one, it will still be lag when it comes to mass pvp, but still, it's better than the cheaper one.
But you do know that even though certain cards can all go up to high or even Ultra settings the better the card the better the graphics, for example looking at Crysis on a 560GTX looks great on Ultra settings, but when compared to the ultra settings of a 670/680 card there is quit a difference even so in performance.
oh sorry, i changed my mine. my budget will be 300-400. I need money to do something else. Sorry guys.
Yah it's up to you, my son has a single 560TI with a I5 3550 CPU and had no lag at all in massive pvp battles on Sorrow's furnace last beta weekend. If you got the dough to spend get the best you can if you want though, it's your dough

Geforce 670 sounds like a good idea then
Your CPU is going to be a bottleneck for really high end graphics cards. You should look into the Radeon HD 7950

You will be able to play all the settings set to max with this one and the card is only $349

for $399 you can't beat the gtx 670 windforce by gigabyte it can easily be clocked to match 680 frames for $100 bucks less.. just got one card is amazing over 10,000 3dmark11 P score

Thanks. Yeah and about the CPU. I forgot to ask which card should i buy so that i can run with its full performance. I want the GTX 670 but i'm not sure if i will be able run its full potential. This answer is really helpful, but i need more opinion on this.
If u rate 2 cards GTX 670 and ati 7950. How would u rate them? GTX 670 = 10 pt. ATI 7950 = ?
BTW, i dont see 7950 in the chart.
And if i get the GTX 670, which CPU should i buy ?
No problem . The people that did that chart didn't have new gen cards to test out so the AMD Radeon 7xxx series and the Geforce GTX 600 is left out, but since both the Radeon HD 7950 and the Geforce GTX 670 is faster than a AMD HD 5870 you will get to run the game on Ultra settings. If you rate the cards just based on the performance level against the Geforce GTX 690 as a 10, I would say the GTX 670 would be a 8 and the ATI Radeon HD7950 at a 7.5. You can check out a comparison yourself here http://www.anandtech.com/show/5818/nvidia-geforce-gtx-670-review-feat-evga/. Best if you get the Geforce GTX 670, I would get either an i5 2500k (i5 3570k for ivy bridge) or an i7 2600k (i7 3770k for ivy bridge), but I would go for the i5 series because the performance difference between the i5 and i7 isn't much. If you plan to keep your current motherboard the highest you can go is with an AMD FX 8150 processor or waiting a bit longer for the piledriver cpu, from a performance standpoint it doesn't come close to Intel's offerings though.
Plugging one of my Geforce GTX 680 into my old rig with a Intel Q9550 @ 3.4ghz, I only saw a minor boost in fps in games compared to that rig's Radeon HD5870.

Probably a 4 or a 4.5.

If you intend to play Guild Wars 2 whats the point in getting a new gpu since Guild Wars 2 is cpu intensive game. I'd rather invest money into a new cpu+mobo like an i5 3570K and then I would buy a new gpu at a later date since the gtx 460 is still a solid card. You can probably get a nice cpu+mobo combo deal+a small SSD so that u can have your os and 1-2 games on it.
But thats just my opinion so yeah xD..
You're going to get a new processor, too, not just a video card? In that case, you're looking to mostly or entirely replace your old computer, and shouldn't just ask about one part in isolation. And you should have a budget for the entire machine, not a separate budget for each particular part. Speaking of which, what is your budget, and which parts (if any) do you already have that you'd like to reuse in the new computer?
Right now my budget is 300-400. I'm planning on changing the graphic card just for now, i want to get the best graphic card that can be run on my computer and has twice the performance of my old gtx 460. After that, i will start upgrading the processor and the mother board ( or maybe the power supply also if necessary ). I'm thinking of getting dual graphic card after i get new mother board and processor. So which ever the graphic card i get now, i will buy another one later so i can have dual graphic card after i upgrade the motherboard and processor.
And i'm talking about a "few months" later after i get new graphic card, maybe at the end of this year i will be able to upgrade the other 2.
Any1 think it would be a good idea ? i know it would be better to get better graphic cards, i'm planning on getting dual 7950. If you think it is a good idea to get dual 7950 i will buy one 7950 right now and buy the rest later. If it's not, i will wait until i get more budget. Since ati 7950 has good performance, consume less power and a lot cheaper, so i am really into it.
Imo is a waste of money getting two 7950 since one can run all games on max settings+ your CPU is gonna bottleneck one, let alone two of em and you'll probably have to buy a new PSU to(btw wich brande and model is your psu?). If u intend to play mmorpg get a new CPU first because they are all CPU intensive games, especially Guild Wars 2. But if you want a new GPU go for it;)
