So glad i live in America

After reading about the announcement of the chinese governament putting a 5 hr playing limit per day on mmo games and banning all people under the age of 18 from playing pvp related games, im glad i live in america.  Of all the things in there country ( and the rest of the world) that need to be given attention to, drugs, drinking, muders, and all that junk, its amazing that the chinese government would put all there energy into banning games and controloing people. Its one thing when your parents put a time limit on playing a game but for the government to do that?  Just pathetic imo.  I relize that bad things can happen form playing games to long, but so many other way more important things to worry about.  Its like worry about what time a show comes on, instead of worring about more important things like what time your college classes are, or when you got to go to work.   anyways post what you think.

After visiting another country, I believe that America's liberal yuppies really will appreciate living in a republic like the US.

What an odd post.  You refer to "liberal yuppies", however yuppies usually refers to young successful professionals during the Reagan admin (i.e., conservatives).  Additionally, the term liberal is ambiguous.  It can mean libertarian -- as in they prefer little govt involvement in the economy and people's personal lives. In this case, libertarians would be against such an infringment into individual rights.

However, you seem to be referring to liberal as in the US Democratic party.  While it has it's exceptions (i.e., Joe Lieberman), it is actually the Democrats who support more socially (as opposed to economic) libertarian causes.  For instance, guys like Ted Kennedy are much more permissive of pornography and gay marriage.

Instead it is the conservatives (and incidentially the radical left) who support social engineering of this sort.  They tend to be more religious in nature (opposing abortion and wanting to ban the teaching of evolution in schools).

Can't we put aside that America isn't perfect but agree that it is the best nation to live in?

While often times people use the pharse only in America to point out our bad side, there are many things that are only in America that make it the greatest piller of Freedom and light in our modern world.

so i was browsing the internet and i saw a movie. a gang in oakland surrounds a car with a suspected gang snitch inside. after about 10 minutes the gang gets her out, beats on her on the grounds, strips her, kicks her, punchs her and all that stuff. finally at the end they ended up killing her. of course in america you have freedom to do many things, and do a lot of stuff that you want to. and many people think that it is the perfect country. but if you see the movie I saw, it really changes the way you think, because it made me think "wow, thats the way america actually is outside of my house..."

YOu think that's bad, you should check out the mexican boarder...  imports are doing things you'd never think possible.. *shudders*  I don't want to think of that too much....image

i should check out the mexican border eh? I LIVE ON THE MEXICAN BORDER. SAN DIEGO! now i dont live like a mile from it. maybe 15 minutes. but still, ive been down there.

also about america: there is a higher firearms death percentage rate in washington DC then in iraq...

but i mean, we all know (those of who live here) that america IS one of the best countries for most. I mean, i still get to buy computer parts, and play MMORPGS and Grand Theft Auto ::::20::. Its just for other its not as good.

america isnt perfect, but what country is? im tired of anti american post. I dont think it matter what we do, who is in charge, people will always have an anti american attitude. im from china myself but i moved to the u.s and i love this country for what it offers. Give me a problem the u.s. has and i bet every country can match it with something worse or the same.

I guess I have just gotten old... but... ( image I can feel the flames coming in already image )

    1) I like the idea of <18 not being able to play PvP online in un-controlled environments (blanket statement).  If my kids play a PvP style game I would rather it be on the XBox or PS2 or something where I can see what is going on and how they are responding to the overt violence.  (And yes it is violence.  How do you extinguish someones life without it? )On both sides.  Gets out of hand I can turn it off.

    2) Does a Communist Government have the right to dictate how many hours you can do "Anything" in their society?  Yes.  That is Communism.  Do some research into the subject at /gasp a library.  Do I think it is "right"?  No.  I would be hating life, but yes I am an American.  I am proud to be an american.  Do I think america is the best?  HAHAHAH hell no.  I lived all over the world and no I do not think the US is the best in every way.  Weighing the goods and bads/ pros-cons etc?  I still live here.

Is the violence on our streets sometimes far more excessive than any video game?  Yes

Would I live anywhere else?  No  (Except maybe Creta or Trier)

We take many freedoms for granted in the USA, but as self-righteous as the media has made us... we have no right to interfere with how other countries run their countries.  (Obvious acts against humanity not withstanding).

To recap... Does the 1st Amendment give us a right to b*tch if we want?  Yes

Does it give us the right to say how others in other countries live their lives?  No

    Just a thought or 3

No because Australia is actually the best nation to live in... with most Scandinavian countries and Holland next, then Thailand, then maybe the US... but probably not...

China has one of the lowest crime rates per capita. The U.S. has one of the highest.

Are you sure you're really that glad?

*shrug* I enjoy living in America, I haven't been anywhere else in the world though... so I can't say it's the best.

Have you been to Thailand ?

I have, in fact I spent over 6 months months there after originally intending to spend a few weeks... the reason being it was one of the best places outside Oz I have ever been. The people are just awesome, the entire country is beautiful, everything is really cheap, if you have a degree you can get a really well paid job, you can buy a nice house cheap... I could go on..... but Id just say go see for yourself.

Oh and the national sport is full contact kickboxing and its on TV like 24/7.... how do you beat that image

I dont dislike America, I dislike most of the ppl that live there. So full of themselfs and amazingly arrogant and patriotic etc  Sadly its them that is ruining it for the "normal" ppl living there. lol

Its a cool and fun place tho.
