Great thread! It's nice to see the inside workings of an MMO and to understand all the work that goes into it.I think the best qoute was from Price
We're in this," Price declares. "There are no ifs, ands or buts about ArenaNet and what we're going to be able to do in the future. We've been given the tools by NCsoft financially and otherwise to be able to do that, to be able to build the team here where we have confidence in ourselves, in our own leadership.
I think it shows a company that is in control of it's decisions and what they can do to make there player base happy Unlike many other companies out there I.E Bioware/EA. Mythic/EA. etc.
gonna be honest I didn't read the article but the vid at the bottom is pretty cool.. you get to see how these people are. If you ask me why I didn't read it =P I refuse to read ANY more articles after yesterdays fiasco!
oh and ty for posting this, I was just checking to make sure it was up here.
Great read, and probably the funnest part of making a game...
Oh, and that fireball sound in Guild Wars 2? That's the sound of a one-foot diameter ball of Kevlar rope wrapped in chicken wire, dipped in kerosene and gasoline and then swung around lead sound designer Drew Cady's head one night in Drew Cady's garden. "It was this huge, big, fireball and it sounded like a jet flying by. It was amazing," recalls Ackley. "It was really cool."
Psh, i could make some cool explosion sounds out at my place haha.

Jeez this hotels firewall is really starting to piss me off, another blacklisted site. Guess I'll Tor it in te morning. Sounds like a fun read Anet certainly seem to 'have a clue'.
It always worries me when Mike starts talking about challenging for the top. Even if it was possible, it's like asking to have the whole deal hexed. I'll be more than satisfied with deliriously successful.

yep some time ago me too, but on the other hand , isn't what we have been able to read between the lines for long? That the ambition in ArenaNet is skyhigh, shooting for the moon , and even if they don't hit GW2 they will land among the stars.

Being a Forbes article, I think he was speaking to investors more than gamers. Similar to gamers, Investors arent interested in context, they just want to be reassured their choice to invest is a correct one. Brian showing confidence in the face of possible investors is the only thing he can do.

But I do agree with you though.
