For many Diablo franchise fans this game is considered the TRUE Diablo III, and proper successor to Diablo II. Not because of the lore (completely different), however the sheer gameplay aspects all harken back to Diablo 1 & 2.

 

Just taken a glimpse at the differences:

 

Path of Exile

 

 

Blizzard's "Diablo III"

 

 

Blizzard's "Diablo III", just looks childish to me, and the Art-Style has bled heavily over from their other products. Something they never allowed prior to WoW. Diablo, StarCraft, and WarCraft II ALL had their own art-style. Something that gave them the edge in their respective markets.

 

All in all, it's obvious to tell that I'm a hardcore Diablo fan, and that I'm a HEAVILY jaded fan after seeing how terrible Diablo III has become. Take what I've said with a grain of salt, however the overall message here is to let people know about the Open Beta this weekend ^--^!

 

ps: Anyone have a "Buddy Key" for closed beta? After the weekend "Sneak Peak" ends it goes back to closed beta :(!

    Meh. You always get whiney people like you when a sequel comes out. Diablo 3 is pretty damn good, and I know because I''m playing it :).

     

    But hey, that's not to say that I'lle skip PoE or Torchlight 2 for that matter. Thanks for the heads up about the somewhat open beta.

    I've played it as well, and it's a crying shame compared to Diablo II. The skill system has been completely trashed, and it's all about gear now.

     

    Diablo III is a black-eye on the Diablo franchise. Torchlight 2 is also a piece of crap, however PoE looks to be the best thing out there to continue the Diablo franchise's true intentions.

    D3 is maybe good. But POE is pretty good itself.

    PoE's dl link should be up later today to allow everyone to dl the game before the beta weekend starts.
