    Crafting

    exploring

    minigames

    dungeons

    skill challenges

    auction house

    working on guild perks

build crafting (experimenting w/ different builds)

    /dancing

    etc.

    - However a large portion of this game is quests (personal story, or renown hearts), events (dynamic events), and pvp. So while there will be things to do if u need a break from those 3 things; if you simply do not like any of those 3 things, you are not only playing the wrong game, but also probably playing the wrong genre.

That list is completely underwhelming to me. The only two interesting bits are crafting and auction house. If you mean by genre themepark mmorpg you are correct. I was hoping GW2 was a bit more then that.

Nevertheless since it doesn''t have a subscription and what I see in read about seems well thought out I''m still interested in the game. I jsut hope there is stuff to do besides questing and pvp. Even if it isn''t sandbox make your won goals style.

Well Personal Story probably resembles more towards the single player RPG than traditional MMORPG questing, that is more your taste.

You have to list what you enjoy in other games in order for people to inform you of specific features and how to it works. Not many people here are trying to sell the game to you, if they have to mention every single feature and explain how it works, you might as well go http://wiki.guildwars2.com

A few features people haven't mention are

    • Puzzle dungeons, you have to solve puzzles in a maze or dungeon-like setting, as oppose to normal bashing your way through it

    • Exploration, because there are no fixed questline, you have to adventure yourself in order to discover new dynamic events, hidden dungeons, like the puzzles I mentioned in the point before. (Don't read guides if you want to save that surprise)

It amazes me at how lazy people are that they come here to forums and ask what there is to do in a game. Then they gripe or whine at the replies they get because it isnt what they wanna hear.  When all they have to do is LOOK THE FRICKEN GAME UP and read. The amount of time they spent trolling their own question they could have looked up 30 different reviews and gone to the offiicial page. If none of the 3 things are to your liking then move on. Unless your just trolling.........

I feel like its a bait and switch going on in here lol.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

Some of the press beta testers have commented that the RPG part of the game is very strong, so solo RPG players may find that element of the game a strong enough hook to overcome their aversion for MMOs and give the game a shot.

Most PVE content is in the form of Dynamic Events, which provide chains of interactive content that goes on in the world with or with out you and which characters can have an impact on the outcome and the direction that events lead from that point on. It's possible to just explore or live in the game world and encounter solid content with out having to pre-accept quests or worry about what stage of a quest line you are on. For those that hate traditional quest hub based PVE content, this system may offer relief.

In short, don't assume that if you dislike certain elements of previous MMOs that you won't like GW2.

Others have provided some lists of things you might do in GW2. People who are used to just barely having enough content to complete the level grind may find themselves a little overwhelmed by all the redundant content and alternative outlets for game play that GW2 looks to offer.

Like most mmo GW2 is mostly an action mmo, so their interests are centered around combat.

So if you don't like this aspect that much, you are left with pretty much nothing. And give them credit, if they could have been a lot more than just combat game as R.G had envisioned them (well because he clearly was and still is today like light years away from most developers), mmorpg pretty much never went away of this combat path anyway, the mmo that offered a bit more than just combat activities can be counted with the finger of one hand since 15years, so.

I don't particulary like questing in mmorpgs for the simple reason they are never as good as in a single player rpg. Which is understandable. I also don't particulary like pvp in mmorpgs, I would play a FPS for that.

Perhaps with WvWvW and dynamic/random events I might love questing and pvp in Guild Wars 2.

There is actually quite a bit jumping puzzles in the game. It actually looks semi-difficult. Dungeon crawling, with avoiding traps, going over planks while the screen shakes, finding hidden areas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYj2QMEPRT0&feature=relmfu

    here is another one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oYfi4cVbYM

These are not part of the events, or hearts or any of that. It's just more stuff in the world itself. They *seem* to really want the players to explore. without going on a wiki. without on a secret path. The idea seems to be just to explore and discover everything like there was no way to spoil yourself.

That's at least how I intent to try to play it.

I'm amazed that with the wealth of knowledge that the current fanbase has about this title that it is so much of a problem to get some simple questions answered without a lot of vitrole and name calling.

They are called discussion forums for a reason and totally optional of course.

But I see where threads like these and others come from (where's the end game and what not), GW2 has a non-traditional progression model where character advancement in terms of power quite easily and quickly for most players comes to an end.

This is going to disorient many traditional MMORPG players looking for the "end game" which is why I feel it might be more appropriate to call GW2 a MMOARPG (MMO Action RPG) since it's design is pretty different in this key area.

That question sounds like something from Yogi Bera (The ball player ,not the picnic basket stealing bear). When once asked about a restaurant he frequented he replied, "Nobody goes there anymore, the place is always too busy".

Yeah, particularly that "bouncer" minigame sounds fun. :)

I think I am most looking forward to exploration, I used to love that but I havn't seen much of it in MMOs for a long time.

you can troll the official forums until you have made over 9000 people very angry.

you can do the same stuff you can in other games. If you search google for "gw2 end game" there are lots of articles about the activities available.

That''s funny because whenever someone asks what the "end game" in GW2 is they get flamed to death and are told there is no end game.

I think that's because they are angry at you for not browsing the links at the top of the forum.

You just need to stop playing MMO's.

You just took out every single piece of content an MMORPG has to offer aside from shitty side-gimmicks.

What do the links tell you though? I can read them a hundred times over, that's not going to make something that's not there magically appear. As there is no end-game in the traditional sense known to most MMO gamers. The common deduction is that end-game starts at level one. That says to me I'll be doing the same exact thing on day one I'd be doing on day 151. IS it surprising that this notion raises a few questions?

What more there is to shooters than shooting? If I play half life, whatelse can i do besides shooting stuff because I am not interested in that!

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

This doesn't really apply to the MMORPG though. As over the years MMO's have offfered many different forms of activities to draw from.
