If a current subscriber gets an old subscriber back to the game the old subscriber gets:
Free level 80 character.
Free Cataclysm.
7 Days of free time.
AND Free realm and faction transfers.
Don't even care if people call this deperate, this is amazing, all MMO's should have incentives like these to play again.

I'll bite.
MMOs should not give away nearly level-capped characters. It creates a plethora of new/returning players that don't understand the class they're playing. "What? What totems? I'm a shaman dude." or "What do you mean Moonkin can't heal?"
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug.
12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
That's only true in games were classes are actually hard to play.
The classes in WoW can almost be mastered in a couple of hours of play, so hopefully within those 5 levels the player will know the general gist of their character when they hit 85.
But yeah, I don't really like the sounds of players running around not knowing what to do
While I agree its bad to give away capped toons, 80 isn't that cap anymore. Still, I can't imagine starting the game at level 80 if I hadn't played for 2+ years, it is such a different beast I wouldn't know what to do.
The OTHER two parts of it though, Free cata upgrade and realm transfer are epic good ideas. First, It brings players to current content without forcing them to buy it, which is a big step for some. AND it helps people who never played together, but may know each other move to the same server, and friends playing the game with you is some of the best incentive to keep playing.
This is an incredibly smart move... except for the 80 part maybe, but still incredible!
Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.
Anyone wanna send me a scroll of resurrection been about 6-9 months since I played this would be awesome
Keep in mind these are RETURNING players so hopefully before they left they learned the game enough to understand things..

first comes to my mind couple of things.
so naked 80 character ? no justice points,no honor,no reputations ,no achievements.
skipping 67-69 , 70-74 PvP ,77-79 which are still quite fun.

Played wow for 7 years, never got a suprise or a loyalty pet / mount or whatever, Yeah i got to wear a tabard for a week....
Transferd 2 out of 10 characters to a new server twice as my old reals died.
Now they give this scroll of resurection
? a level 80 char + free realm transfer + Faction change ?
The QQ on the wow forums are on fire, this will hurt them more then they will gain, specialy with GW2 on the horizon.
Ahwell its Blizzards way of backstabbing it seems :P
So why don't they come out and admit that you only really should have to pay for the most recent ex pack as the older ones are out dated as soon as the newer ones come out.

Not a very good incentive with the free lvl 80 character. That basically skipping past the better parts of the journey right to where it becomes the worst! Ah well...
OMFG, I can get a mage (the only class I don't have) instantly leveled to 80 :O
This deal is just ridiculously good to be real. I already have cata and I am on one of the most populated EU servers but the instant level 80 is pure win for someone who has levelled a million toons

Let me just say, that instead of fixing the problems with the talent trees which will be "features" in the mists of pandaria expansion, and instead of screwing over the hunters in this game, like they have since cataclysm has come out, they might have actually saved their sub numbers had they headed the warnings i and my compatriots were yelling at the devs in the forums almost a year ago. It was right after we were able to play through enough to see how bad the content really was end game in Cataclysm due to them placing too much concern on the beginning of the game.
For the longest time, you could only receive a SoR once per account. I got 1 like 2-3 years ago and have not been eligible for a long time. With these pretty awesome incentives, does anyone know if this rule still applies?
I don't believe it does. I've been ressurected twice atleast myself.

I actually think it's a good move. 1-80 is just a massive time-sink where you learn nothing because the XP is so excellerated and everything is so nerfed that there is literally no reason to even have it.
I've advocated them doing just what they are doing - considering the above.

7 days of free time is nothing. Free transfers might be an incentive if you actually want to transfer any characters.
Level 80 is where the game starts to suck.
lol I agree, buy our game and skip past the content. Dont blizzard get it, they redesigned all the zones in CATA ..then offer routes to skip same content, even when they aknowledge design mistakes were made. Its like they have lost confidence in their own world and are both trapped and dependant on the end-game. It's insane.

I made the same arguement about taking players out of the content with ingame guildies when flying went zone wide.
can we all please stop acting like its buy the game and BOOM level 80...Its a SCROLL OF RESSURECTION. Its probably meant that if you had a friend who quit in classic or TBC, they can catch up most of the way so you can play together - like the free transfers.

Wish I had a friend that still played. I wouldn't mind checking things out again...and no access to any trial. Been waiting for one of those 7 day come back ones, not sure if they still do those...I get them...but 100% of them have been scams
Free level 80 eh? I wonder how long it will take to become a paid service.
Its only for returning accounts..anyone who is even thinking about returning probably has a toon at atleast 60 depending on when they quit..
