games im suprised havnt been made into mmorpg's

I was just thinking, well actually I was just replaying dynasty warriors 4, and was just thinking why the people who made it havnt tried to get ammorpg of it, i think a game lyk dynasty warriors wud b an awesome mmorpg, not changing anything, basicly make it lyk a console mmorpg, like monster hunter for the ps2. Also I thought, why not make a pokemon mmorpg, I meen its a huge market, and they cant just keep making gameboy games, could be fun, as long as someone made it right, what everyone think?

They should make an online zelda game.

  • sdoughtysdoughty Member Posts: 149
true true, actually ive only played the lil old snes game of zelda, but loved it :P but yeah, i would have thought it would be much better for a company to remake a game as an mmorpg, rather than get people to think up a whole new game

Be prepared to devote some time to reading them...I'm on book 7 out of 10 or 11, and there are still more on the way. Each book ranged from 500-over 1000 pages. Great great read though...and I agree that it would be a great MMO. The factions thing is already built in, along with an interesting magical/political system.

There are alot of games that would be great if they turned them into MMORPGs, but it can be a touchy subject. It's kinda like when they remake movies, the newer generations like them but most of the older generations do not.

I think making zelda into an MMORPG or other games like that would be awesome, zelda's more of an adventure game than an RPG though, so would have to figure out a lvling system, class systems, spell and ability systems, etc. It would save alot of money and time, but you would have to do it perfect, one slip up and it's all over, just a real touchy thing to do.

I tried reading those books before... not my cup of tea. Not that it was too hard to read or anything... I read books about the same size (though not that many in a series). I just thought the action moved a little slow.

i'd love to see how they would do the magic system if it was made into a game....it would take one hell of a lot of thinking on the devs part lol

not really, just have the further along a character has progressed, the more Power they can channel, and have it as a no statistics set up like roma victor so that u can never tell exactly what lvl power u are or whatever if u can channel, and make a weave that shows an aura representing how strong in the power they are. ive always said the wheel of time would make the sickest game ever. I know what you meen exactly, but making games from consoles to mmorpg, it has to be easy. 1 more suggestion, hehe i didnt sleep last night, getting my body clock back to normal, and I ended up watching power rangers hehe, well was thinking, good concept for an mmorpg, would kinda be like CoH im thinking, many low lvl movs, in other words, putys or wateva they called, then yuv got your bosses, one thing I was wondering about was how you could get the robots in, cus how cool would that be, i meen, in your guild you could have certain people who have certain machines that can be certain body parts, and you can all fit together, and just like in CoH when you reach a certain lvl you can become an even greater ranger, incomes your green ranger, white ranger and gold ranger from past power rangers, and im only 15 so i was a lil kid wen they wer around :) and they could have there own singular bot thing, just like they do in the tv shows, wow i should tell this to a games company, bet i could find someone to give me some cash for this idea, damn it, no1 pinch my idea hehe

Wheel of time would be great just for the chance to kill that wimp Rand alThor, god have never seen such a book character whine so much. ::::31::

Seriously, the variety of cultures in the wheel of time books would make for a great game world, as well as the alll out conflict of the books, with everyone fighting everyone else.

Things is, how would they deal with the male magic users? in the current books rand seems to have cured the taint of the male side of the magic, but if the game was to start from the begining, any male characters that would like to be magic users, would have to deal with the insanity of using it.

Entrana, i know what u mean by it being a harder system to set up since you dont just cast the spells, you weave them, so a system could be set up that would balance the power out between casters and non-casters, being that when people are channeling they go into a first person mode, and literally have to weave the different spells by using keys and the mouse, different keys for different Elements and the mouse to move around the range and way its woven, could lead to some seriously cool affects and size of spells, and this would also be where power of channeling comes in with range and how thick of bars of each element the weaves use.

As for the male taint thing, could do two things. One, just not have it, and not completly follow the book by making males and females in the game have equal channeling ability, or two, follow the book and make male channelers 2x or 3x as strong as female ones, but at the cost of the more they use the power, they start to go insane, like emotes being used randomly, certain weaves weaving them selves or harder to control, moving occasionly without meaning too, etc. Also, as a player gets more mad, there able to channel more, think that was somewhere in the book (was in the text-based version game of the book).

with all those set up, and along with all the different factions and stuff, could be a great game. Would be well balanced as channelers would definitly be more powerful then melee or archers, but at the cost of being completly vulnerable when channeling (Warders come in here), and Male channelers more poweful then female ones like in the book, but balanced out with that system of insanity mentioned above (and also stronger in Fire and Earth, as females stronger in Water and Air).

Damn i should be a professional

edit: male channelers are actually alot stronger then female ones, but for balance sake only like 2x or 3x.

Games that I am amazed are not MMo's YET?

STAR TREK (I know it's coming, but it is not out yet)

MECHWARRIOR (I mean really why not?)

    SHADOWRUN

Witty saying to amuse you goes here.

  • moleculemolecule Member Posts: 48

Shadowrun would be great. They'd probably have to concentrate on one city though to start with (Detroit or Seattle I would guess) and maybe expand from there. Maybe have public and private planes to take characters to other cities/territories/instances...

I think Shadowrun could be set up to have some really great instanced missions though... =)

i think that "the dark tower" series of stephen king would make a great mmorpg. it would be interesting to see how they deal with the two faces of the world. it has magic, guns, 2 big worlds, a great backstory...

    Thing's I think would be good MMORPG's

    Resident Evil Online (hell yea!)

    Stargate Online

    Men in Black Online

South Park Online (man that'd be awesome)

    Civilization Online

    Pokemon Online (for the kids)

    The Simpsons Online

Professor Hubert Farnsworth - That question is less stupid but, you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

Well, there might not be any MMOs based on it, but there have been MUDs based on it for years. The Mud Connector has an entire section of its category listing for them, and there are 38 Wheel of Time MUDs up and running right now. I've played and/or been a builder/admin on a few of them (Reflection of the Wheel, Tarmon Gai'don, the Weave), and each had a very detailed system for channeling. A couple even had linking, which was interesting. The male channeler issue was easier to control on the scale of a MUD, though, because it could be controlled on a case-by-case basis. It all really depended upon whether the MUD was based more on roleplaying/realism or just hack 'n slash. In the former, it was important to keep the number of channelers (both male and female) to a minimum in order to prevent the SWG jedi mistake. In the latter, it didn't really matter how many there were, it just mattered that there was a system of checks and balances in place to prevent them from being too powerful. Most WoT games I was involved with had a burn out factor that could occur, effectively leaving a channeler unable to tap into the True Source ever again. Obviously, that'd go over about as well in an MMO as perma-death for jedis would, though.

in my honest opinion i think either robert jordans wheel of time series or terry brooks shannara ones will be the next books to hit the movies/games scene so you never know a decent game based on the wheel of time could happen ::::02::

There's already been 2 online Resident Evil games. Resident Evil: Outbreak, and Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2, though as I recall they were none too popular.

I've heard it was coming soon, but I'm surprised it's taken so long to turn .hack// into an actual MMORPG, seeing as how it's a single player console RPG ABOUT an MMORPG.

As for Dynasty Warriors, I'm a huge fan of the series myself, but the fact that the games are based on actual events in Chinese history, making it into an open ended game would be rather difficult. Not that the games follow history to a tee or anything.
