Ah well another farewell thread. Why do people think they are so important that we care about why THEY dont like a game. Can u (mmorpg.com) put all these good bye good riddance threads into one sub forum or something. They are clogging up the boards for people that play the game to chat....oh wait no one here plays SWTOR because their all too good for the game and cant wait for there next fix (GW2).

    Yawn

    I could post 100 more.

No, mmorpg. isn't going to compile post you don't agree with into one forum for your convience.  you have just as many rights as I do around here which means my post are as important or unimportant as yours.

I get a kick out of posts like this on the SWTOR forums, but here they don't fly.

Why do you insist on posting on the forums if you like a game, like playing it, and have nothing to lose? You see to me its more like this. These people paid money for something they didn't get the value from. Just like if you and the OP bought a new car, and his broke down a mile from the lot, I wouldn't expect you both to be at the dealer complaining and asking for some redemption. Nor should you have a need to tell the other guy to quit complaining about the car company.

I played a game that others mocked for years, never once did I need to mock them for not liking it. I liked it, that's all I cared about. They had a right to gripe about it not being a good game for them. They spent the money, it was their right. Since BW only seems to be impacted by hype and media, it's a good way to get even to a company they feel ripped them off.

I understand you can't fathom someone finding your precious game a let down.  I understand the soup you swim in but really there is no need to insult me personally.  Maybe if you get so worked up over such post you should not read them in the first place?  Just an idea.  More power to you for finding Ilum a fun place for pvp.

I'm done responding to your post because I know your type all too well.  By all means insult away if you think it helps your case, or justifies your position.  I found those 6 videos in roughly 30 seconds, I could find many, many more if you really want.

I'm glad you found a server where Ilum is working.

I made a thread once about how i got ripped off by a company selling rift keys that got me perma banned twice for fraud. i got flamed to high heaven byt this so called community and mods deleted the thread although I said nothing to cause a riot. Just warned people fo buying anything from g2play or any affiliated websites..

I enjoy 70% of what SWTOR offers. I think people have a bad sense of whats value for money. I've wasted money on many games that ive had 5 mins of fun from. SWTOR in my eyes has enough for any gamer to enjoy for 3 months at least. If getitng to endgame and beating the game is all their coincerned about. I've been playing since early access. I'm not a battlemaster, I've not completed all the raids, I dont have full champion pvp set, i dont have all my trade skills maxed, theres still loads i gotta do. I must admit a big part of my enjoyment is playing with my great guild. I can see how people could not enjoy the game playing by themsevles..but that would stand true for any mmo.

I can understand peoples pain when they got soo hyped up over a game that in their eyes didnt deliever what they wanted. Saying the game is a complete failure because you didnt find it fun is an over statement. I'm not insulting you personally. I said portnowhere has from what ive seen no kill trading. You then posted 6 video clips from 6 servers (none being portnowhere) to prove your point. I'm not getting worked up man just tired of the clone threads stating the same thing over and over. I guess I should stop defending the game tho peeps gonna think im on thier payroll.

Come join my guild man, roll a imp toon and ill show you how to enjoy the game. Unless of course your burntout from this style of mmo, which there is only one answer. Take a break. Thats what i did, im a swg vet and got bored of wow fast and took a big break from mmos before i played SWTOR. Might be why im enjoying it so much im not mmo burnt out.

This is why I'm very careful spending money on least mmos, I am trying to be able to honestly say I enjoyed not only the pve but the pvp as well or least 100% of the game. It's possible now maybe two years ago back in 2010 I'd have to roll with 80% or below because I felt no dev would attempt to make the full 100% of the game enjoyable instead of focusing on one thing.

You're missing the point entirely. People that have gamed as long as we have in MMOs don't give a shit to complete all the raids, don't want to grind pvp sets, max trade skills etc. (because they weren't well done and don't matter).  Games need risk and reward and until they add risk back into MMOs this is what we get..boredom and unsubbing less than two months into a game's launch.

If that is fun for you, you would love working in a factory job.  The problem is we've been there done that and frankly as much as I hate to admit it, WoW does it better.  The real issue is that the game offers NOTHING new to the genre aside from companions that you can just buy off with gifts. I played with good friends i've had for 30 years..yes 30.  None of us liked the end-game, we're all in our 30s and all of us grew up on Star Wars.

We were the true definition of fanbois....That's the problem...the game isn't good

Yeah, just because Bioware and Mythic are in completely different companies of the same parent company doesn't mean that they wouldn't spend a lot of resources from one project to go to another...  Even though Bioware CLEARLY has their own design teams.

And of course there is no way any one else would come up with this PVP formula, clearly had to be a Mythic game designer.

Edit:  incase you didnt' catch my entire post is pointing out how silly and tin foil hatty you sound.

lol.   Mythic desingers DID work on this game, some as early as 2009.    By 2010 Mythic had been pretty much cannibilzed to work on this game or laid off in EAs third-restructuring.  (EA has lost $2.77 billion over the past four years.   They haven't show a profit since 03/31/2007.   Not even last quarter when they released SWTOR.)

This OP speaks the complete truth.

I actually feel really SAD for the people at BW that worked on this. They obviously put a lot of time into this but when you compare say this game to what GW2 has planned it's like comparing the feature set of a 2012 Mercedes to the first Model T Ford. They need to fire Gabe(the pvp designer) immediately and hire someone who knows something about PvP because this is indeed the worst of the worst.

I bought the collectors edition, I really wanted to like this game and I've been playing regularly since it came out but I honestly dont see how anyone could truely say they are having a great time post 50 in SWTOR. It's really turned into more contempt and thats the feeling I'm getting from more and more posters. Contempt from what could have been a really good game. It just boils down to really bad design decisions.  For example BW released a patch where  in the PvP world of Illum it allowed Empire players to CAMP the transport hub of Republic in the republic base for at least 1 full day, racking up thousands of points of Valor(pvp rank points) which gives better gear to even further imbalance the teams. See the vid  HERE Furthermore they said they are not rolling back the valor gains from that day!

There is such a sour taste in peoples mouth right now about this game that I dont think their reputation can be repaired. It would take a massive overhaul of many of the game mechanics. Dont even get me started on the horrible, horrible performance. I played with an evga gtx 590(a $700 video card) and it was still choppy in many areas.

I do my 2 PvP dailies and log off immediately but only because there isn't anyting else to play right now MMO wise. Once either The Secret World or Guild Wars 2 comes out I'm dumping this complete garbage of a game and it's likely that I'll do it before that since this game so horrid in so many ways POST 50.

And that's great! I hope they do...but being the long time MMO players that I am I also know that companies rarely have come backs down the road, the problems with TORs pvp is deep and serious and things like Ilum don't just need tweaks they need a complete and utter revamp...100%

So maybe 3 months they fix pvp (although im doubtful) I would be more then happy to come back to the game, but by then who knows what game I will be playing.

It didn't seem as though PvP was a focus for them to begin with. If thats the case, they would do better to leave PvP alone and focus on making more PvE content.

Not every game HAS to have a PvP focus.

This may be the truth but it doesn't negate the fact that TOR is an utter let down at least for me.  In a game with such a great background story of good vs evil and the chance for some truly epic and fun pvp we instead get huttball...and more huttball.

To each his own, but I will say you speak as if SWTOR is 'done', complete and will never receive updates, content and features.

Bioware have said that PvP will be one of their focus points for the planned updates.

Your 100% correct but this only makes things worse - The PvP in Tor sucks and...so does the end game PvE.  I stated my case in the OP.  I would have had no problem having fun had the PvE at end game been any good but it's not for the reasons I already said in my OP.

sure the voice over and individual storu was cool but at end game that all goes away and your left with nothing.  And end game is really easy to get to currently.

that said I see no signs from the devs that they are focused on end game PvE at this point either.  Maybe you know something I don't...?  I mean Lord of the Rings is a game I have very much enjoyed over the years and it has no real PvP at all, but it's PvE is 100% better then TORs.

All that aside though PvP should have been a focus.  The devs stated they were "surprised by the populatiry of PvP" which is crazy to me that they would be surprised by this.  Again they are using the Star Wars franchise where at its heart is a story of good vs evil, of empire vs republic...why on earth would they not forsee players wanting to PvP epic battles against the other side?  I mean c'mon..really?

What exactly were they thinking?  that players would want to raid hardmodes for armor far worse then anything you can get from PvP?  That players would focus on crafting which you can max in 4 hours if you have the money and nothing can be sold or competes with PvP?  I mean what the hell were they thinking?

I guess my concern when I hear "well Bioware will be addressing PvP in a future patch."

Bioware already addressed PvP at launch, and look where that got them!  Illum is made without having a shred of insight into how pvp works in an MMO.  I'm open to being proven wrong, but saying "we will look at it" in a way that doesn't involve someone losing their head over this, I'm not sure what would change.

My expectations for this game were exceeded by some margin! I never expected to enjoy it after seeing it was a lazily designed WOW clone (a game I have despised and mocked for a long time) - but could not imagine how bad it turned out to be, even after being conditioned to the constant degradation of the once mighty Star Wars IP in the last decade or so (thanks George). I feel somewhat badly for the folk who got burned, but the public fallout is great entertainment - stay salty guys.

You know every day that goes by I get more and more jaded because I feel like I was majorly lied to and ripped off by BioWare. I mean the IDIOTS at BW thought they would just copy verbatium WoW, put it in a Star Wars universe and all become rich. There is no passion or love put into this game and it's about as stale as day old bread. It is indeed the most boring and uninspired MMO ever created. Don't believe me? See video HERE on how lifeless the world is if your even considering buying this POS.

I'm still subbing mind you just because there simply isn't anything else out. I occassionaly do my dailies and log out.  I'm not saying TSW and GW2 will be the second coming but A) Secret World is at least ORIGINAL and GW2 you can tell they put some major love and FUN into that game.

This article here sums up everything I think about SWTOR and I thought it was a hilarious read:  HERE

The blame for this abomination fall squarely on Gabe(PvP lead) and the other designers that took this game over 5 years in the direction they thought would be best. I would love BW to announce the firing of those people and the hiring of someone that actually gives a dam.

I loved Neverwinter nights and a few BW games like Mass Effect but man this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If a descent company that puts quality into games like Bethesda ever decides to do an MMO it would make SWTOR look like pong.

Holy crap, I had no idea how bad it actually was. I mean, you read about the NPCs being static and all that, but... wow. That's almost embarassing. Compare that to this city here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjLmknda6_Q

    Now THAT'S a living city.

    Oderint, dum metuant.

From the endless reading of negative posts (and my god there have been a lot), my own opinion is that SWTOR suffered from a combination of players having very high expectations (the hype factor) and the fact that is is just another  run of the mill themepark game (even if it was a well made one or not).

A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...

God sounds like an awful terrible game.

Weird thing is, I am and have been playing it and love it!  Weird how we can have completely contrasting opinions, huh?

I saw instance portals with a large city with few NPCS scattered around it. Not too alive.

    In Bioware we trust!

I wish this game could be more than it is now, I wanted a proper combat system that could support the theme of a jedi vs jedi combat.

Maybe the next star wars game will be better... even though I'm getting tired of waiting.
