Not sure if this has been announced yet on mmorpg.com, but here it is.

Not sure if anyone cares.

I do! I'll get some nostalgia in for awhile.

I'm super excited about this!  I haven't played Everquest in years but it was pretty much the first game that got me into MMOs in the first place.  I spent years playing this and am very tempted to re-live some of the old memories i had playing this game.  Thanks for the link!

I'm going to go back before F2P hits, get reaquainted with things. F2P will hopefully bring in more people and make the game feel more alive again.

I've already gotten bored with SW:TOR. Tried my 10-day cataclysm trial on WoW but it's just not that interesting. They have too much of an "on rails" feel to them. Don't get me wrong, the voice acting and all in SW:TOR is very nice and interesting, but the game play is the same-ol thing and PVP is pretty boring (battlegrounds again - open world PvP is very rare). I might as well go back to EQ and grind and have a little bit of nostalgia.

I love EQ but I`m currently playing SWTOR. I left EQ right before the new expansion hit. My main was lvl 90 and had 1700+ AA. I just came to realize that I wasn`t going to catch up with the players who have played longer. I wish I could have 5K+ AA but it was just going to take a very long time to get there. Like I said, I love EQ. I just wish I the mountain of AA xp that I needed could be attained without a very long grind.

I personally tend not to think of MMOs as a race to the end or even think of the end-point at all. I just enjoy the ride. I usually end up setting smaller goals for myself, like getting SoW, a mount, a rare/special peice of gear, and what-not. I'm not intimidated at all by being so far behind, because my goal when I play isn't to get to the end and max everything out, its just to have fun.

I loved EQ. Played 9 years on FV with the same druid, Berrian. Started many guilds, recruited for many guilds, left many guilds. Awesome game in its time. I don't think I could go back, I have gotten in the habit over the years of not joining mmo's that have been out. Not fun being behind everyone else, so I just wait for the next new thing to come out and try that.  F2P / P2W holds zero interest for me. All that is is just dangling the acrrt in front of you, give you enough ot get your mouth wet and hope you will pay for the rest.

    Definitely waiting for EQN!

I`m not one to race to max lvl either. Like you, I also play for the fun factor. I hope you have fun in your time back in EQ. If you get to the lvl of the expansion Underfoot, the game will change a lot. In Underfoot and House of Thule the mobs will eat you up and spit you out like you are nothing. They hit like a Freight Train and have a ton of HP. I`m talking about trash mobs by the way. My Paladin has Slay Crit mobs for over 103K and their health just drops a bit. You`ll need a good strong guild for later content and you`ll need great gear and a ton of AA. I`m affraid your journey will switch from fun to aggravation in later lvl`s, but I hope I`m wrong. I do wish you the best of luck in EQ. I might even return to EQ once it is F2P just to grind AA if SOE will allow it (don`t know if there will be a cap in F2P). I just know that I`ll probably never get to the point that I`d like to get to.

the progression server will not be going f2p

but its an easy server to do catchup if you started a level one char

its up to POP expansion so far

-- no one has 1000 aa  (that amount of AA does not even exist yet until more expansions open)

and the server will probably become a regular server in less than a year

Read the fine print folks its not actually the full game. Its a limited version of the game. Limited races to choose, limited classes, limited AA (so no high end raiding), limited bag slots (EQ is the MOST item centric game), etc. Its still good for a few hours of entertainment but its still not truely free to play.

almost all f2p mmos, that also offer a sub,

Just reading the commentary. There is a reason its called Everquest. Even the top guilds in the game still have more to do. Which is the purpose of EVERQUEST. You will never finish end game. Catching up? Why the rush? So much to do in the game. There really is no such thing!

I find it humorous that so many wants to think there is a end game for EQ. Really there isnt! by the time you feel End Game is near a new expansion will come out :-D
