That has one problem. There are monthly fees. Every person in America from their birth owes back fees of about 60000$ because of our national debt. We also have about 1000$ every month in living expenses. That is your sub, the 60k$ is your box price.

Outside is a perfect example of you get what you pay for.

Further, the time to create the engine was about 4billion years. Then maybe a few hundred million to get the mechanics in place and then in order to create the client software it took about 100000 years.

Out of your very short list WoW was the first MMO, but the real first MMO that i played was Runescape Classic back in the good old days ;)

Dark Age of Camelot ruined me.

    44 classes

    25 or so races

    3 completely independent realms

    siege awrfare

    territorial control

    no instances!

pvp matters for everyone in your realm

    no mirrored classes

    guild housing/player housing

    sigh....

Good old days before every race was cosmetic and classes were cut and paste mirrors and battlegrounds meant nothing other than a flag capture type ladder ranking for just the player.   What crap.

    Lineage 2.

It was a nice-ish game back then. Lots of mob grind, but you could have a good time once you got into a guild, there have been a lot of classes, the game looked simple and beautiful, and grouping and PvP could result in really good times.

Runescape in 2001. It was quite good until the graphics update ruined its soul.

I think my first MMO was Dark Ages, an isometric sprite based game that, to my knowledge, is still on the MMORPG games list.  That was back in 2001 or 2002 I think.  I don't remember a lot about it, just that it was frustrating.

I didn't play MMOs for a few years after that until Guild Wars, though technically not an MMO.

dransik to lineage 1 to helbreath followed with horizons empire of istaria after that world of warcraft and all modern mmos wich each have hooked me only few months each.

I played Neverwinter Nights, which is considered the first MMO, before that I played MUD and still do...there's just something about typing "go north" and having a server tell you "you enter a dense forested area" that never gets old :)

Can't believe UO isn't on the list, the pioneer of the genre.  I did play this thing and the early dreams of the possibilities of MMORPGs were great.

Watched my friends play Evercrack back in the day.  Really scary, IMO.

I next jumped to SWG in '03/'04.

"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Because he probably doesn't have a clue what UO is.  That's the harsh realization that us classic MMORPG'ers have to come to.  Things are different now.

Mine was UO as well.  If the game was updated with current technology, I'd probably still be playing it.

Nexus : the Kingdom of the Winds  by Nexon (1996) was my first ever MMO.

Was surfing Tucows that day and saw a Nexus TK ad and thought to myself wth why not. Been addicted to it until 2001-2002 , when I decided to play a MMORTS Shattered Galaxy made by Nexon.  And on 2006 I joined the wonderful world of EVE-Online and still play to this day !

Ah the memories , they don't quite do these small magical MMO's anymore.  It's a real shame.

I started M59 and then UO within weeks of each other, then a couple years later EQ1 when it launched.... so, of those on your list, EQ1.

Runescape Classic, followed by Runescape 2. My List is long of which I have played but I've played to many to count now.

    My all time favorites include:

    Maplestory,

    ROSE Online, before F2P,

    Guild Wars.

    and Fiesta Online.

These games are some of the best I came accross. I can tell you that I have also subbed to WoW, Aion, Rift, Eve Online, Age of conan, Warhammer Online, Vanguard and personally I wouldnt rate any of them in my top 5. Truly hated WoW and Rift was dull and boring. Really enjoyed aion, but playbase was to low to continue playing for me. Im still waiting for my true all time favorite game and I really hope guild wars 2 lives up to expectation and takes my heart.
