Henrik twitter challenge

ToferioToferio Member UncommonPosts: 1,411

Follow him on Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/HenrikWNystrom so he will reveal the world map of nave!

First it was 1000 followers required, now he lowered his expectations to 500. All in all, I must admit I am curious to see what other continents they have plans for.

    Oh my god, I didn't know he had a twitter. This is diamonds.

    His last tweet seems to imply that not all races are currently interesting. Could this be a scratch on the shiney surface of the heavenly gift that is MO? Joking aside, I'm glad he seems to have overcome that nasty language barrier..

  • raff01raff01 Member Posts: 453

    Well, his english seems perfectly fine on his twitter...So the language barrier argument was indeed complete and utter BS...

    What this shows is how low the pop and intrest of MO is.  He has been on twitter for over a week.  And all he has gotten is 120 followers.  He is a developer of a MMO that has been out for 2 years.

    Or it could mean that most people don't give a shit about twitter. We aren't Paris Hilton.

    This is the twitter of a complete niche project for fans of classic oldschool EverQuest reprogrammed from scratch by amateur devs. Its got 166 followers...

    So i guess its just that most people don't give a shit about MO apart from the 120 hardcore members which seems close to the number of people really playing the game now.

    Obviously StarVault care so little about twitter that they use it as PR instrument.

    Creating sockpuppet twitter accounts take time!  Have no fear.. eventually they will climb the 500 follower mountain!

    Second time i've seen the word sockpuppet today, both in relation to mo actually, and i've never seen the word before. But the meaning isn't too hard to guess i guess ;)

    on topic: i've never used twitter before and don't intend to start because of this, especially when i can just drop by the url in the op to read the tweets anyways

    Edit: Some interesting tweets there now though i see:

    Everyone! I think we just solved the node issues! That's going live tomorrow morning!

    @HenrikWNystromHenrik Nyström

    I was doing some major research today around nodelines, got the test group to do some runs for data, and we found out a way to optimize

    @HenrikWNystromHenrik Nyström

    So expect early server patch tomorrow, and nodes shouldt be noticeable at best,at worst 400 times better, there is one more opt to if needed

    @HenrikWNystromHenrik Nyström

    Since that's what we updated saving 400 packages being sent from server client.. ;) gonna be interesting tomorrow to see feedback.

    Let's see how that works out... To me they seem to be gaining some positive momentum these days. Let's hope i'm right and they can keep it up, i really want to play the MO they've been describing

    Edit2: Kind of questioning his 400 packets less = 400 times better math though, hehe :p

    You are acting like Henrik hype and fact are the same thing.  They are not.

  • darthturtle1darthturtle1 Member Posts: 208

    At least Henrik is realising he is not that popular.  First he asked for 1000 followers then 500 and now down to 200.

    Mortal Online - A game with an awesome feature list except one.

    FFA PvP Full Loot without any safe zones = doomed to low population forever.

    Nah not really, it could work with enough content for non hardcore PvP centered people.

    Problem is you would need to actually work on stuff that are too carebear for MO's style, like quests, dungeons, Mobs...

    But nah, they're like "nah lets not do it, quests and dungeons are so mainstream, MO's hardcore PvP on barren plains, nowhere to hide, nothing to do expect kill the other guy, that's the real spirit!"

    Absolutely.

    In any FFA-PVP-everywhere world, a non-PVP specced player is just a loot pinata that will get shaken out regularly and frequently.

    It's a brutal world, certainly, but realistic ? Not even remotely...

    Actually thats one of the best bits about the game FFA PVP Full Loot is a must in my opinion... Tho there are safe zones, in starter towns you can call for a guard if you are attacked the guard will come and kill the person that was attacking you leaving you to then loot his corpse :)

    I dont play MO because it has many other issues lol

    postServer patch 2011-12-22

    Hi all,

    Server is right now down for a server update. And will be up again shortly.

    This update handles a few minor bugs,

    * guild members have a temp cap on 180 members.

    * Keep control radius reverting down when nodes going down has been fixed

    * Node lines have got an update that should remove pretty much all related issues with node changes, making it a lot more smooth when changing nodes.

    We are interested to hear your feedback on node changes.

    We from Star Vault wish you all a merry christmas!

    @Gwahlur..

    Because what happens on the test server and then goes to live usually works right??

    Remember the TC everyone said it tested awesome.  Then it hit live and all the features were either bugged or disabled.

  • GwahlurGwahlur Member UncommonPosts: 201

    As far as I can tell that was referring to the live server after the patch went out. But they're being awfully quiet about it over there though...

    There is still a slight fps drop when going over a nodeline, but instead of it being 5-10 seconds or whatever of you freezing or something, its instantaneous now, you just feel a little "hic cup" on your fps going over them.

    Also a guy from focus group though, so... dunno if he's talking about test or live either.

    If it works though, nice. People in that thread are also complaining about prediction though, and I have to admit, along with ai/pve and gui that's also one of the things holding me back from buying and getting in the action. Or I'm not totally sure if i'd chalk it up to prediction or not, but fights just seem too chaotic/speedy... People are moving too fast, there's no real swordfights going on, just run around, charge a hit and when you see an enemy in front of you for a split second, release and hope to get a hit in.

    I think lowering movement speed in combat or something would help make fights feel more real, more tactical sort of... Out of combat I wouldn't want to lower it though, just annoying taking forever to get somewhere... Though maybe more "realistic".

    Thoughts?

    I have to disagree here. While it certainly looks like fans of this style of play are in the minority, I don't think it necessarily precludes the possibility of maintaining a healthy population high enough to achieve what MO wants to. Bear in mind that the market is hardly saturated with such titles, so that minority is more concentrated.

    What has doomed MO to a tiny population is their excessive focus on PVP, something which has to some extent become self perpetuating as all the sandbox fans leave and all that remains are the PVPers clamouring for more content orientated around that side of the game. Essentially what they've done is taken a niche market and distilled it even further. Throw in a multitude of bugs and an inability to keep control of their own game...

    Very well said and 100% true. I have no idea when sandbox = FFA PvP and only FFA PvP...

    I think your in the wrong forum if you wanna discuss improvments to MO. Here there is mostly people that hate the game expressing their minds everytime they have some minuts to spare. Most people that play MO know better then me, and stay away from this site. So bring your suggestion up on the MO forums instead with people that actually play and care about the game. Good luck.
