Some interesting users popping up today with topics posting the usual bait.

Have to wonder if it is the same person with a bunch of accounts. Sure seems that way.

Oh yeah...topics whining about people that whine are like so uberly, superly cool dude.

    Game on

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I like indie. I like indie punk and oi and hardcore and celtic folk music. I like indie movies, "real" indie movies.

But the game world doesn't work like that. It kinda did in the days of ZX Spectrum (fucking golden age) but not now.

You show me gaming indie that is the equivalent of "Exploited" (the band) and "La Chien Andalou" (movie) or even mainstream indie like "Solaris" or "Let the Right One In" and that ISN'T a 4 hour pretentious  distraction and I will agree.

Until then I shall shamelessly enjoy blockbuster cheesy shite like  SWTOR.

Show me the alternative or let me enjoy my cheese.

Why the hell do you start spurting off about movies and music when we are clearly talking about gaming here? Yes, there are indie movies and music out there that blows away mainstream garbage yet how is that at all relevant to mainstream games vs indie developed games? How about Glitch as an example for indie mmo's? Everyone is loving that supposedly! People were also talking about the Repopulation game which is being made by a new studio using the Hero Engine (same used to make SW:TOR).

Indie is one of those cool as fuck terms. It transcends games and people that use it know it. It suggests sticking it to the man anti-corporate shaft like awesomeness. We are independent. Check us out...oooh. Sometimes it is real and sometimes it is fake BS. So yeah, I can fucking compare this to the other uses of indie.

And as for Glitch. Never fucking heard of it. Sounds like a shite name for a game tbh but I could be wrong.

It's kind of sad that you perceive things like that. Thinking that you know everything about why people do what they do and dismissing things just because of the label people give them.

You're missing out on a lot of fun things in life.

But at least you know how to enjoy the important things... like typing "Regards Melmoth" at the end of every post you make. :)

I'll likely just avoid the forums all together, to avoid all the lurking trolls, idiots and a-holes that will emerge after any popular game's launch.

It's not just SWTORs launch, it's every launch.  Browsing mmorpg.com forums during launch of any major game is like inviting all your weird relatives to dinner.  There are the folks who think it's the best launch ever (kind of like Aunt Sue who doesn't dwell on the negative and makes you wonder if she'd even notice a dead body in her path), those who think it's the worst (Uncle Joe who never has anything positive happen to him and makes you wonder how he could still be getting out of bed everyday with all of his burdens), those who have already finished the game (argggg - little brothers and sisters everywhere), and finally those who are having fun playing the game (the last group rarely posts, they don't want to miss any action in game).  Then there are the detractors to each of the above groups plus the detractors who just like being ornery (these are all the old timers who insist they walked to school up hill both ways in 10 feet snow drifts in their youth, which of course they remember just like it was yesterday).

Best advice:  If it's getting to you go play a game and avoid the forums for a month or two - it will all calm down and the masses will move onto the next game to be released.

This could get pretty heated, and it is somewhat inflammatory.
