Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

If you thought pre order early access server queue was this bad....

If you thought all the servers are full and in queues right now, wait till december 20th those retail box sales....O yes.....those retail box sales on december 20th.  You would probably cry a river of tears because it'll be even longer queue then it is already now.

i hope the bioware is preparing red button emergency for the servers. May god help them all comes dec 20th retail box launch sales. If i were bioware id launch 50 servers in usa and 50 more servers in europe.

You really think there are more people who will play post launch? I'm not so sure that most people who really have an interest didn't already join in the EA.

i would say the majority of the people who are going to play have already pre-ordered. all the people i know who wanted to play this are already in, and playing. i'm sure there are a few who will wait till the box price goes down / a free trail comes out and stuff like that.

I pre ordered 2 CE's back in july and do not regret it.  I do not plan on playing for a week or 2 after the launch.  I have played enough mmo's to know all launches suck and will wait for the servers to simmer down.  I plan on playing the game for a long time and am in no hurry.

A lot of people will keep pre ordering game till 20th. I don't think everyone is in yet and 20th and beyond people will keep joining.

How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?

ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6.
US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian.
Subs will be so low there is no need for more
    Snoocky-How many servers?
The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...

Thorbrand - SWTOR doesn't have longevity at all. Might be one of the shortest lived MMOs.

Even if there are only a third of the amount of pre-orders buy the game in stores during the launch week that's still another million people. Probably a generous guess but you get the idea.

They can add all the new servers they want, the issue is populations on existing servers. They need to start offering guild transfers as well as adding servers.

Nah. Wait til the 25th when all the kiddos open their shiny new box o' SWTOR...

  • RanyrRanyr Member UncommonPosts: 212

Hehe, I log into SWTOR and make myself a nice complex meal and read a book. Intentionally chose Jung Ma because it was full and RP-PVP.

Queues are what they are but you know what, if they fracture the community into 80(just an example) servers just because there are some people waiting in like, the game wouldn't be the same.

Hoping they don't go the massive new server route to deal with this and instead improve on their technology for login authenticatoin. Game runs so smooth right now, the only waiting I do is in the queue to log on, then it's beautiful.

It wouldn't matter, people would still pile onto servers that are already full. Like I've said previously several times on these forums already, there are plenty of servers with room to spare but people insist on joining servers that are already full because they want to play on a server with a high population. It's the stupidity of players causing this rather than any fault with Bioware/EA.

  • obiiobii Member UncommonPosts: 804

I would expect that at most half of the people that want to play preordered.

If they had a million players already I expect they would have announced it.

It takes a special kind of person to buy a $60 game before its released and set sights on playing before release day. Pre-order players do not make up the majority of the game's playerbase, If that is different with Star Wars then we're seeing an unprecedented shift in how peopel buy and play MMOs at release.  Either way, despite what the armchair developers around here babble on about, this has been a great launch so far and  seems like it's being metered and watched so as to make sure three or four months down the road the servers have healthy populations, as well.

Interesting thought, except you can't go buy it in stores right now.  You'll have to wait for it to go on the shelves on the 20th which is long past when most parents complete their Christmas shopping.

Besides, despite clone wars I still think this game has little appeal in the under 20 set.

    Fixed that for you.

    There is NO miracle patch.

95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.

    Hope is not a stategy.

I've logged in at all hours of the day and have YET to see a single queue.

If you have a queue there are plenty of servers NOT queued.  Voila.

Stop coming on forums and complaining because you chose poorly and CHOOSE not to rectify the issue.

    You want transfers...BEFORE launch date.....

P.S.  Rockjaw says if you don't like where your guild is placed, you're free to not go to that server.  They did you a service.  If you don't like what they did for you, then fix it yourself.

Oh see I could totally agree with this.

Except..   Bioware decided to have a guild program.    I didn't take part in that program... yet I fail to see how its the users choice to have their guild put on a server that some of them cannot log onto due to population.   There should have been some design there to actually control population a bit more.

Sure the entire guild can move to another server... hope they get their guild name etc   Of course that also kind of makes the entire "pick your allies and your enemies" thing pointless too.

I would imagine the problem will only get worse on the 20th.   See the individual can pick any server and maybe not deal with this issue.   For the person trying to join their guild....

This thread is funny when compared to the trolling threads that claimed nobody would want to play this game.

Both North America and the EU have a large number of servers (so many I didn't waste my time counting them), and yes, the populations on all of them is Standard to Full with a wait (24/7). During prime time they are Heavy to Full with a wait.

Most people thhat want this game and are going to subscribe are already playing. My entire guild is all ready in game and organizing Flashpoints, etc.,

    We are having a blast.

....and for the trolls and haters, don't be sad if nobody takes your forum bait. We are too busy having fun in SWTOR.

I think you completely misunderstood that. The comment had nothing to do with gaming. Moms tend to have holiday shopping done much earlier than dads do. While they will go out for the christmas eve midnight crazu shopping, that's more for sales than for actually last minute shopping.

The 1950's may be long gone, but that doesn't change the fact that dads usually skip on the Christimas shopping thing if they can get away with it. image Seriously, what does girls playing mmo's have to do with that comment anyway?

What i am worried about what is bioware going to do with those 910,000 pore orders from brick and mortar stores such as gamestop, walmart, bestbuy, target stores acrss the nation.

The servers is having queues already for these pre orders right now.

you know the ones from vgchart someone brought up before swtor was released thats the one im worried about.

Where is bioware goign to put those 910,00 box sales on dec 20.

If they entered their code then most of them are already in the game, so what's the problem?

    No it isn't

Random disconnects all the time left and right and then get booted to the back of the line again... some as bad as 10 mins of play....   I played all day long no burps this week until Friday when it hit the fan. It's server side. Impending fail is fail.

Played: Asheron's Call(still the best fantasy MMO!), EQ1, EQ2, Vanguard, DAoC, Horizons, City of Heroes/Villians, WoW (crap), LOTORO, D&D Online, Eve, Anarchy Online, and still playing SWG daily.
