wow people over reacting much? To be honest i think Tera will do very well with its new combat system (finally a mmorpg that takes skills rather than who have best gear and can press buttom the fastest....), great graphics (i'll say it flat i hate western game graphics, yes i know they trying ot make it realistic in some way but i can't stand looking at all these ugly people i just can't), and its not a grind fest which is probbly the reason its not doing so well in asia.
I'm from asia myself soi know that over there we like it to be hard to make it to it top, that it take lot of work and effort to reach there and not everyone can hence you have the endless grinding that split the hardecore game and casual gamer. What i learn here in the US is that people want things w/o working for them, its simple fact, why people want to be able to quest their way to cap in what? 2 weeks? why? why would you want to get to the game so fast? because people don't want to work for it simple as that. There lot more casual gamer in western side that don't want to or can't but still want the end game content really really fast ( coz people can't wait). But its how communty are different and why game change base on its user.
I'm happy that Tera is comming out though finnally a p2p mmorpg that doesn't look like total crap... (i had my time with f2p game, wayyyyy more expansive) i think WoW, aion, and rift should be scared lol
Also STWOR is like an over glorfied single player game, sure the story is nice but everything else is just a WoW ripe off in starwar form. Only reason it sell is is the star war name. If i want story i rather play dragon nest, its free and story is good, first game where i read all my quest dialog coz they are worth reading. and say something like but STWOR has voice dialog...seriously stop been so lazy and read.... ok end rage mode.
Guess Tera qualifies for WOW clone title by using same logic.. yes it has new combat system, poilitics and such but at heart it is following classic themepark model. i played in korean beta and except for combat it couldn't keep me interested for long. Also, when Tera is not doing that well in its own home country i doubt it will break any records in west.
again as i stated ealier people in korea like grind game base more they like more challenge to it, because Tera in korea as of now is already very westernized with all the quest progression lvling rather than pure hard core grinding. Reason been, and i have this feeling too, is that there has to be something that seperate the hardcore gamer and casual gamer. Speically end lvl content, if you have to grind your way through it and only so many people made it to this lvl you feel a sense of achivement, however western game don't like that they want to be able to quest through and blaze through the content making it easy for everyone to hit that lvl cap making it less meanful. If they want tera to do better in korea make it more grind base and i'm sure they get lot more players. Also i kinda get the feeling that Tera was released pre maturely, that the game wasn't ready and was put out in to the market, which might also be the reason why Tera in korea is not doing well which may also be the reason why Tera for NA and EU is constantly delayed because they want a more complete game upon launch
Knowing how publication laws work I'd say it's being delayed because they have to file forums over and over and resubmit applications for bullshit license and registry numbers.
As for why it didnt do well in the east? Look at the combat, build a macro and get back to me. I will say it again, MMO gamers are the same world wide. MMO underground industry doesn't reflect gamer habits.
The real issue isn't about markets or nationality or what rating the game is given so much as it's about creating an avatar that looks like a child, then putting provocative clothing on that avatar. Which is just wrong. Those kiddie pageeants with five year olds wearing six pounds of makeup and not much else are just as wrong and parents who put their children on display like that should be horsewhipped. I'm sure child beauty pageants can be done tastefully, but I've yet to see any signs of it. The kids are dolled up like little hookers, and it's loathesome. So yes, kindly put shorts on avatars that resemble children, devs. It's sad that anyone even has to say it.

I can make Avatars in 10 different games look child like if all I need to do is make them short and boobless. If people can't tell the difference between a 12 year old girl and an Elin render in a video game, they have bigger issues. EME and BHS wanted everything to be perfect, they tried too hard and they ended up placating the wrong people. Shit happens, the Elin charm is still there and it's just not that big of a deal once the initial shock value wears off. It's unfortunate for the game this blunder had the opposite effect they were looking for but again, shit happens.

To be honest, its not a big deal either way. Keep the orginial design and it would have been fine IMO. Change them and the vast minority will rage (never mind that the so called changes only effects a few armor renders and the vast majority of the armors are unchanged).
