Soft porn adverts

madjonNZmadjonNZ Member Posts: 143

I've seen 2 "Dragona" adverts on the main page, one in particular just comes across as soft porn, its tacky and offensive.

I've been visiting the MMORPG website for years but haven't posted much.

IMO this is a poor decision by MMORPG  to continue the downward trend of allowing adverts that are bordeline pornography.

Can you take a screenshot of said advertisements? I'm just curious to see them.

  • eye_meye_m Member UncommonPosts: 3,317

Is it soft porn because it has cleavage, or because it shows her bellybutton?

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

Someone on the internet who doesnt know what (soft) porn is.

    Talk about an epic discovery.

I think it is soft porn because penetration is suggested but not shown.

    How righteous of you!

Start paying mmorpg.com's bills... oh wait, you'd rather just use their service and banter them when you see something you don't agree with.  Makes perfect sense.

I don't ever remember seeing exposed genitals on the site.  CGI genitals... now there's something we should definitely be wary of.

Are you talking on the right or the left?

Though I think these advertisments are tacky they are far from soft core porn. They do tend to make the site "NSFW".

    At least where I work.

But not porn. Of any sort.

I am a parent and I can tell you there is much worse on the internet. Why worry about this site which probably has more adults posting to it then some teenie site where tweens post more cleavge and hot shorts then you shake a stick at.

Don't make me say "in my day...."

You get to see worse on so many others also not age-restricted websites AND of course in tv. Personally I think you're overly sensitive there but of course you have the right to voice your opinion.

Silly Americans and their problems with nudity.

It always amuses me how some parts of humanity still cling to puritan values in regards to abhorring the depiction of natural human birthday suits. If people wouldn't be so paranoid and dogmatic about it there would be a lot less frustrations and potentially dangerous fixations to go around.

I for one, welcome getting back in touch with our nature again.

My only problem with nudity is that no one wants to see me naked.

I agree op. These developers first started spamming the forums here about this game like a gold selling site spams. Then they went to the Top Voted Games counter manipulation spam til the game was banned from the game counter altogether. Now actually buying advertising but this crap make Evony ads look like nuns. Gameplay will probably be on par with most sub standard Asian grinders.

There's this thing called parenting- if you watch what your children are looking at online and disalow them; this is not a problem.

There is a thing called "age appropriateness" and to the general MMO population that ad is age appropriate.

If you don't want your kid seeing it then don't buy them the game and keep tabs of what they look at online.

Stop looking to censorship as an answer to laziness.

  • madjonNZmadjonNZ Member Posts: 143

Of course there are plenty of images far more explicit than these elsewhere - thats not the point, I am genuinly concerned  to see these ads on MMORPG.

I don't believe i'm overly sensitive about this, wow another thread on the same issue i just read - I didn't know that till right now, so there are other people who feel the same way.

This is a lowering on advertising standards by MMORPG, whether you agree or not, this will start to affect their readership numbers by parents who will inevitably steer their kids away from this website.  Others may be drawn to it because of the fact but MMORPG needs to draw a line at some point otherwise it won't be computer games that its best known for...

What is considered pornography is open to interpretation.  But to me those images are not soft porn at all. Soft porn would be Playboy type pics.  Pornography would be....Oui or Hustler or Cheri.  Hardcore porn is what you would find on the internet and involves all the various fetishes, physical penetration and money shot.

    Hope that helped.  Hehe.

Agreed completely. Better parenting is a great answer. Asking for companies to censor themselves is a not so great answer. If something is offensive to you, deal with it yourself. Don't deal with it for everyone else too.

Ahh no it wont affect readership.  Sorry but if kids are looking for hardcore porn they aren't coming to mmorpg.com.  There's plenty of hardcore sites with actual pornography.  Not only that but they are having sex and sending naked pics of themselves to each other.

You're being a bit hystrionic about it and only you know the reason.

Oh no, cleavage and belly buttons. What ever shall we do!

In all seriousness though, I don't see anything wrong with the pictures other than as someone noted the artist needs to brush up on their lessons. Other than that I mean, are you offended when you see a girl in a swimsuit? I'm not saying the ads are tasteful, there are ones that mix bit of sexyness and style tastefully, but its hardly offensive.
