Veteran Character Naked because of Fabled/Leg. items lock...Still no F2P and probaly never will be..

Well i just logged in one of my Old characters after this UNLOCK class/race Hotfix. I couldnt wait to see my old chars and play !!!
What i got was >>>>>>>>>>>>> NACKED CHARACTERS because of the FABLED/LEGENDARY Item Restriction.WTF ?? OH WONDER !!! WAIT !!ITS SOE !!!
SOE now wants me to buy so called "Item Unlockers" to Unlock Fabled/Leg. Armor, Weapons etc etc
SO ... now i have almost Naked Level 50-60 characters that are unplayable because they have no gear to use because its locked in their bags ...... in addition 2 of my large Fabled Bags are locked as well.

Free to play with SOE is a Myth , and honestly i never expected to be able to play any of my characters again for ree without paying 1 cent. Its SOE, they never give something for free....... forget it....
I dont think i am the only one that is pissed off enough to just leave this mess right ?

There is no such thing as "free" to play.
It's just marketing spin that's gotten out of control. That goes for EQ2, and every other "free" to play game.
I went back to try it out as a veteran, but I paid the 15 bucks for 30 days to see if I liked it. I wouldn't expect my previously paid content to be completely free now.
Amazing. SOE is like a case study in how not to run things.
Sure, nothing is free, but in this case SOE is expecting this guy to pay twice. Fact is, at some point in the past he bought the game. Either a retail or digital version of the game in order to buy access to the game and play it at all. He paid, he played and now he is being told he has to pay again.

Let me see if i got this correctly.
So you were playing your sub EQ2 and in the time in payed to play and gained your items, (character progression in all the forms you can describe) you wake up one beautiful morning and EQ2 has gone F2P...well ok its part of the "business" no harm done.
So you login and find out that now there are some stuff you need to pay for in the future advancement in the game and..oh no wait...you need to pay for stuff you already had!!! Cowabunga, omg, get me my ninja turtles ready to ambush some1....so you are telling me you dont mind to have to pay for something you already had, and now some other gamer who has never had it can buy it too with less than zero effort compared to what you may gone through???
Oh man talk about an "easy goer" person. Thats the way dude.
imagine they first wanted me to pay for Class/race unlocks then leech my cash again with Fabled/Leg. Items.
What a nice surprise that would have been for me ! After paying to unlock my character they charged me again for using the chars items !
And that for all my chars ! holy crap

From this company you can never expect to get something for free , there lies a trap behing every corner. You can never be sure as free player that theres no sudden popup in between a quest or dungeon that wants you to pay $$$$$$$
if you intend to play the end game at 90
- yes EQ2 wont be free to play, beyond chat and earning AA and mentoring friends
leveling up under 90? thats 89 levels where you dont need master spells/ fabled gear

I personally leveled from 1 to 90 as a silver account w no issues or trouble -- try it before judge it
I paid for ZERO unlockers
my only annoyance was the AA slider was locked at 50%

Most Free to Play mmos (especially the so called hybrids / freemiums) have a misleading title..... Companies make you believe the term "Free" means Free of charges forever. But it actually means Free as in you have the Freedom to play the game without paying for the box / digital download. Then there comes the restrictions that make you either buy unlocks or dont enjoy the game.... i dont mind buying extra bags, character slots, extra bank slots, and even the expansions..... but hell lift all other restrictions.... its ridiculous to be forced to pay to be a well trained craftsman...
I'm having a really hard time figuring out how your mind works. Do you really expect everything to be free? Why would you do that? Nothing in this world is free. Its just a different paying method. Jesus christ wake the heck up. And yes you can play for free, with restrictions. But expeecting to get everything without paying a dime, is so absurd and dumb that I just don't have any more words.
most of these people are complaining not becouse they want it to be free but that they where active subscribers who paid the box fee for all expacs and monthly sub and now they have to rebuy the ability to use thier items. it is kinda lame
the game is fully enjoyable under 90 w no unlockers - I know because i tried it as an experiment on a 2nd acct
yes you only get 4 bag slots but EQ2 has CHEAP 40 slot bags you can buy from other players
effectively allowing up to 160 slots of personal inventory (and this does not include your bank space)
- try getting a 40 slot bag in WOW or LOTRO, they dont exist
under 90
treasured gear works fine and is very similar to legendary gear
spells/skills? my 1st 90 on Freeport had no one to buy from,
for leveling purposes apprentice skills do not feel gimped
-- solo leveling is too easy and in groups under 90, noone cares
you do not need unlockers in EQ2 under 90 and theres plenty of fun to be had

That's SOE for ya, they really know how to shoot for the stars. They may as well have left the character completely locked out not going to be playing at all now.
I nor most other vets are willing to drop cash to simply run around for a bit, maybe do a quest or two, ohh hey maybe run into an old friend, gee that would actually lead to spending money because we want to play.
Currently this is how SOE is handling returning players.

This is how SOE should work it:
Schmooze the players; Here is your character exactly as you left it. Yeah all decked out, pretty, handsome, yeah just the way you left her/him.
Take it for a spin, feels good don't it, yeah comfortable like an old shoe, bet ya forgot how good that felt, yeah figured you did.
Why don't you go take out a mob or two, OH yeah bet you forgot how wicked that felt huh...
Hey go do a few quests my friend, OH YEAH now you're starting remembering what it was all about, knew you'd like it.
Whoa an old friend logged on, why don't you catch up maybe do a dungeon, or a few quests check out some of the rewards, nice aren't they? Oh but wait, hang on a second there my friend, you have to pay to open this up,

lol, i don't think the OP was about free playablility but active paying vets who paid for boxes, expacs, dlc and now if they want to use thier earned items they have to pay a shakedown fee to soe.
the only thing 90 vets cant use is their fabled gear -- so they downgrade to treasured gear, big deal
I dont call that a "shakedown"
their existing master spells/skills? they can still use them
90 Vets can still earn AA in less challenging content or chat w friends or mentor friends
- all for free

On a side note about SOE's greed.I guess they made a "billing" mistake and they were charging me 29.99 every 3 days.I rarely check my account balance cause i always know roughly how much is in the account.Next thing i know I have over 300 US missing from my account,soon as i found out a little voice in my head said,"SOE".I call my bank to confirm.
Sure enough.
I got a refund however.
I asked myself afterwards ,"If this wasn't really a billing mistake I wonder how dumb they think their playerbase is?"
From what I understand it’s just a single one off payment to unlock all your gear/spells no sub required. They might give vets further free stuff/concessions depending on how it pans out
However, if they gave you absolutely everything for free then SOE would go out of business. It’s a kind of simple concept to grasp to be honest.
