Play STO before F2P? Deluxe edition?

Hi, I would like to try STO. I see notes everywhere that this game has improved much since launch and I just love ST universe, movies etc.


I will have free gaming time during christmas but F2P begins at January. So what are my options when I want to play this game now? Is STO Digital Deluxe Edition worth it (10.99€)? What I found I got some advancements + 30 days of free play. Is that right?

    Deluxe edition gives you 30 days, joined trill race that  is great, borg bo that is great too. And some costumes and such. Also there is celebration going. You can get 2 cstore ships for free, account unlock.

    There is ging to be silver and gold accounts.

    SIlver will get reduced invetory, no free ship on reaching ranks, no respecs. And some other limitations. Only 2 character slots .You can play for free but it will get very grindy.

    so if i buy the game now, i dont get any benefits if i decide to go f2p in the future?... then ill wait for f2p and save the box price for something else. that would make more sense.

    Even for Gold/Lifetime members the game is going to be very grindy due to the dilituim cap of 8000 per day and everything you need to use that curriency for having a crazy high price including the crafting system.

    Hell the holiday event currently running in-game makes you grind for days to get even the most basic of items as does the revamped STF's and the Doff system mini game.
