How Many Games Do You Usually Juggle At Once?

I typically play 2-3 MMO's at once.  They change quite frequently.  In the past year my combination of three games have been:

RIFT/WoW/Lotro

then it was

RIFT/Aion/LoL

then it was

WoW/Glitch/Aion

Now it looks like it will be

WoW/Glitch/Lineage 2

Once GW2 comes out I will be most likely playing

WoW/GW2 and some third one (either Glitch or L2)

I almost need to look at my annual calendar to figure out what my main mmo is!!!

I don't know about anyone else here, but I just can't handle more than 3 at a time...I lose track of where I am.

How about you? How many MMO's do you play concurrently in any given month.  Sure, the games may change on a regular basis but in any given month, how many different MMO accounts do you typically log into and play?

Generally one.  Sometimes two.  Record is four (for a relatively short time).  Where does that fit?

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

Added the word "usually" to the title to indicate what your NORMAL patter would be :D Can't change the poll question, but I think folks will get the idea.

Never more than two, but it's usually always one.

Just one, which is why I have been looking for an MMO to call home for 2-3 years.  Haven't had one since Star Wars Galaxies.  I'll play TOR for a short while, then it will be off to GW2 or TSW most likely.  With all the amazing press TSW is getting from their media preview, that one is starting to look most likely for my gaming style.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

Only 1 at a time.  I don't have time for more then one.  Also as time goes on I'm having a lot of trouble finding even one that I enjoy.  The past few years, each new games feels like I've been there before.

I try to sub to one, maybe two, with some singleplayer goodness here and there.

    I play 3 MMO's.

    1 P2P. ( Eve )

    2 F2P. ( DCU, STO when it goes F2P )

Not counting single player PC games. Usually 1 of those as well. ( In this case, Skyrim.)

I played wow/swg together for a long time. Now I plan on playing SW:TOR and GW2 together. Hoping playing both will allow me play both and keep them fresh. Down side is if one is a lot more fun to me than the other I may not log in very often.

I will also play BF3 and MW3 along with those games just to switch it up and offer different types of challenges and a chance to clear my mind. So, I usually do 1-2 mmo's with a fps or 2 mixed in. If I could sit around all day and not get fat I would play probably 3 mmo's and host of single players/fps. But alast I put on pounds so I have to juggle working out in there too.

Currently playing Dragon Age, MW3, BF3. No mmo right now waiting for SW:TOR.

I tend to play two,  P2P and a SP.

Considering there are other things that come out of my entertainment budget, it is usually one or none at a time.  I had worked my way up to playing four-five games a year though, switching them out at 1-3 month intervals.  Last year though, pretty much all of the games in my rotation did something that caused me to decide not to return... not including beta time, I spent eight months playing a game earlier this year until they did something that caused me to decide that I would not be returning.

In the past, when subs were cheaper and pretty much all the rest of my entertainment was cheaper as well - I would often find myself with two subs for two different kinds of MMORPGs.  Heh, for a wee while there - I paid three subs just for EVE alone.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

I always play a subscription-based game, while playing Mabinogi and Vindictus since I spent enough to play for free without hampering my gameplay.

  • fenistilfenistil Member Posts: 3,005

Always only one mmorpg at one time.  If I play an mmorpg longer than 3-4 weeks, I usually end up playing this one and only mmorpg for a very long time, frequently year or more.

Don't think I would even want to play more than one at a time.  Maybe I could imagine playing two, but that's unlikely and never happened yet.

On the other hand, I don't commit easily. I check mmorpg every now and then, but I have quite high standards & expectations+I am bored of mmorpg's that are solely focused on istances & gear grind, so I abandon most after few days.

If I find one I like I stay for long.

Not playing any mmorpg atm, cause current mmorpg's either are my former ones that changed too much in their 'core' and I left them, are too bad or boring to play them (got Rift + 30 days for free and still could not play it more than 4 days) or have unacceptable business model (most f2p+ freemium ones + ideas like double dipping TSW and that leave me with small choice).

    Waiting for ArcheAge and GW2.

    One.

I don't see any reason to have more than two.

most of the time it's just one. on very rare occasions I will play 2 but not enough to vote that way so just one.

  • VesaviusVesavius Member RarePosts: 7,908

One MMORPG, maybe two if my friends want to get together to play a game as a static group a couple of times a week, and one single player.

I am not one of those guys that can play 2-3 MMORPGs hardcore... one seems more then enough to fill up my gaming time generally.

I have at most, paid for 2 game accounts in any given month. Most of the time lately, though, I have not been playing MMOs. Nothing out there grabs me right now. I am looking forward to SW:ToR.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

If i play MMO i stick to one and put all my time and effort into that game. I just can't play more then one it becomes routine and not fully dedicated to one of them so i stick to 1 is for me enough.

One. If I do ever play another game it's generally not an MMO. They just take up too much time for me to be able to play multiple at one time. I have been known to try a new game out while playing one but that's never usually for more than the free month or I'll just jump over completely.

    One at a time...

I do not play MMO's alone, I play with my guild, you cannot focus and do stuff as a guild when everyone is playing more than one at a time, more importantly you cannot play together with the people you trust and cherish, and the purpose of playing an MMO is to play with others (for me).

There is nothing more sad to see people playing an MMo like if it was a Solo game, this excludes Lone Wolf Style players, who may like to do many of the activities solo in MMO's but still are there to interact with others nevetheless and are usually part of a group nevertheless just contributing in their own way.

I like this thread however, it shows that there is at least two fundamental schools of thought amongst the MMO players.

This can explain how some games cater to one group and why others to the other group, this may play a role in why some people see some games as shallow and why some people see some others as too compex.

I supose, for a type of player who treats an MMO as a solo game and wants to play 3-4 at the same time, the shallow games are the good ones, since they are generally simple not requiring much effort beyond what one player can do by themselves in achieving various goals.

While those who treat an MMO (as it is suposed to in my opinion), like a world where you immerse yourself to interact with other players in achieving various goals of the game, like these to be more complex with more depth as to enhance interaction opportunities.
