It's called focusing based on the demographic. We wants to see some skin.

Since your at work I doubt you can get Adblock.  But Yeah, its kinda weird sitting on this site before my classes having all the tits everywhere so everyone thinks im on some weird fetish site.

  • just2duhjust2duh Member Posts: 1,290

It could be worse. The ads are atleast of MMO's or other games occasionally too, and generally sex sells when it comes to games and entertainment lol. Just be glad they aren't about other random/unrelated things like most other sites use.

    Hmm....

Must be different ads per area. The worst I've got is that Crystal Saga girl who mistakenly seems to have left half her dress at home.

Yeah I'm in the US and never seen anything NSFW. the closest thing would be the implied nudity in the AoC ads, but they never really show anything.

I definitely look both ways before accessing this website at work.  I usually just won't.

Oh?  That Caesary "Mature enough to play?" ad isn't popping up for you guys?  My kid was next to me when I saw that and the hand IMMEDIATELY went over her eyes.  Til I realized it wasn't going to get worse.

But yes, I wonder about some of the ads that get through.

They're tits, like 51% of the population has them.

    Get over it.

    Now with 57.3% more flames!

Agreed.  I have no problem with any of it personally, but I think the site goes way too far with some of what they allow.  I can't check the site at work or at school.

    this thread is gonna rock!!!

  • OnigodOnigod Member UncommonPosts: 756

Like the current age of conan add.

where the sword goes slowly away from the human chest and then tiny words cover the area where the nipples are supposed to be.

I couldnt care less about these kind of adds they dont make me happy nor sad the truth is is that these advertisements work.

the best part of th OP is how it completely ignores the extreme violence and rising levels of gore in most MMO's.

That's not what this is about.  He's not talking about what is in the games, nor playing the games at work.  He's talking about what is appropriate to have on your screen at work.

  • GTwanderGTwander Member UncommonPosts: 6,035

Would a severed head flying across your screen at work have the same outcome?

Yeah I don't even open up MMORPG.com when the kids are around any more. The last time I did One of those stupid ads were up and it was the one with the chick that has the faded nipples and her legs open with the green button between her legs saying "Play with me, me lord" or something like that.  I was talking to her about school and her eyes got wide and she looked away from the screen  I looked at the screen and had to close it out real fast. I didn't know what to say. Had to sit down and have a talk with her about tasteless advertising.

  • KostKost Member CommonPosts: 1,975

It's been NSFW for quite some time.

  • xenogiasxenogias Member Posts: 1,926

I only open it at work once everyone leaves. I'm by myself on 2nd shift after an hour so its not so bad. When I'm at home I piss my GF off and ask her why she doesnt look more like that. Funny reactions soon follow. Then she remembers I do it to irritate her and I get slapped. I lvoe it :D

But yea for work? Getting pretty bad. They probably get pretty good money for it though since most websites that arent directly related to porn wont advertise stuff like MMORPG does.

  • YalexyYalexy Member UncommonPosts: 1,058

Seriously... if I watch TV or walk through the streets of downtown I see tons of bikini-girls all the time, so why should the internet be any different.

And where I live, there's public mixed saunas, nude people on the beaches etc, so some nipples or boobs really aren't anything offensive, but rather normal.

    So get over it ffs.

The best part of your reply is how you completely ignore the context of this thread.

Would love to peruse this site at my work, but we have got a no-surfing policy, that I have to administrate lol.  I've got to set the good example and not surf the web...

yea where I live the censors seem to like lakes of blood much better than 1 nipple - GOD FORBID!

    Currently bored with MMO's.

Some of the replies I'm reading are really depressing the hell out of me. I see some of the same names that complain about bad communities or social degradation telling me to get over it. You're telling me to get over the objectification of women for profit? What the fuck?!

  • JimmacJimmac Member UncommonPosts: 1,660

I like to call these games "big tet online" or BTO's for short.

I'm not sure whey these threads keep popping up every now and then. It's been stated several times that the staff here at MMORPG.com have no control over the ads shown. Best thing you can do is Firefox + Addblock.

Do you REALLY think that mmorpg.com can't control the ads they put on their site?  Really?
