flguy147flguy147 Member UncommonPosts: 507

Hello, i need to buy a new headset and was wondering if somebody could recommend me one.  I would pay up to about $150 for a headset.  Any suggestions for the best sound quality? Thanks

I got a set of Logitech G930 wireless headsets recently...I'm very happy with them. Awesome sound, good mic, controls onboard...and you can still use them while they are charging (you just plug in the cable and keep listening). Very comfortable, too...might be a bit heavy but not bad with the padding. If you like the circumaural type, you should definitely consider them.

I love turtlebeaches personally because they dont hurt my years after hours of wear. Also, stay away from the "surround sound" 5.1 and 7.1 headset gimmick. They suck

Any of the high end Sennheisser head sets, most of them are not covering your ears which I like alot and they have awesome sound and lasts long if you use them with care. Had one for about 4 years before the microphone got broken.

If you like over the ear cups I recommend Sennheiser PC360. Big open over the ear cups with great sound.

its a good headset which u can play on both PC and ps3 and has nice padding so it wouldn't hurt ur ears from long sections.

1 more vote for Turtle Beach. Since ive started using them 2 years ago or so i will never go back to anything else. the 7.1 surround is great for Shooters.

Normally I would recommend the Logitech G930 as well...

HOWEVER, I see turtlebeach has a similar wireless headset that is universal (will work with other devices).  The ONLY complaint I have about my g930 is it requires a USB port and software package to run.  Means PC only.

I guess it is safe to say Turtle Beach wins the day. Just keep us updated on your purchase and tell us how it works out for ya.

bought the bech turtle p21 seens release (2009) and still working and using it to play mostly on PS3 though ( cuz MMOs are getting more bad then good).

    using it mostly for playing:

MAG ( Mucho Amount of Gaming )

Call of Campers: Modern Gayfare 2 ( still think its one of the best shooter for consoles)

                    ModRacer

on PC im mostly just playing Counter strike source, killing floor, sometimes PSO Blue burst( private server) and team fortress before it went F2P.

His argument wasn't really a good one, but Sennheiser isn't overpriced or crap. They have consumer level products that aren't very expensive and are very good quality.

OP should probably do research over at head-fi.org if you really want good analysis of headphones.

If you just want a list of good headphones they have this list for over-ear headphones (which I find more comfortable, but they have lists for on-ear and such too)

For gaming, these Beyerdynamic DT 770 are suppose to be some of the best. If you do a search for Turtle Beach there everyone will tell you to get the DT 770's instead.. as well as Audio Technica ATH-A900.

Also up there are Sennheiser HD 555's, which I believe can be modded to HD 580's with very little effort to improve sound quality even more. Personally I have Sennheiser HD 448's which are nice but slightly hollow sounding, which is a sound unique to Sennheiser's 4xx line, but I needed closed back headphones for better isolation from my noisy roommates.

Thanks everybody for all your input.  Glad to see everybody's opinion

These are the ones I'm getting, but they are a bit over $150. I think they are highly worth it...well from the reivews I've heard at least :P I'm getting these with the astro mixamp. That is a pretty expensive combination though. A lot of people do not seem to care for the pc350s so I would not risk going that direction...but there are others that are supposed to be near just as good as the pc360s but are about $80. I'm not sure of the name though....hmmm...let me think (aka: googling right now). I think it might be these, but I'm possibly wrong: HERE
