Looking for world conquest game with very active gameplay

A few of my friends and I did an assignment where we would choose one or two contries in the world, make alliances and wars to take over the world. It was fun, but it was too short timewise, and it was set in the 1800s.

I did moderatley good, took over Italy, Switzerland and Austria.

Someone briefly mentioned today, that it would be cool to play a modern version of this on the internet, or Xbox 360.

After about 30m of googling terms that I believe would apply to this game, I still couldn't find anything. Some of the things we are looking for in the overall game are:

  • 21st Century Setting

  • High level of Infantry/Armor/Navy/Air Force customization

  • Allows us to only play each other

  • Lets us set territory boundaries, make alliances, set boundaries, have battles, wage all out war, and spec ops

  • Economy

It doesn't have to have all these features, but the more realistic the better.

Does anyone know a world conquest game that would be appropriate?

    Civilization 5 is pretty good.

I've never played it multiplayer though.

    Nuclear Risk *grin*

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

You might want to check out RUSE by Ubisoft.
