And, I am impressed. Only playing for a little bit and found myself not alt tabbing or leaving the chair, like I do with other F2P MMO's. I must say, by far the best f2p I have encountered. However, playing a Hobbit Ministrel, omg are the shire quests STUPID, gaaah!!! all this running around from town to town,  I just want my "go kill 10 things come back" quests. I'm hoping its just the Shire that has such annyoing quests. Being expereinced im sure these quests are easy to just whip out, but being knew, I spent more time running from town town like a chicken with my head cut off than anything else.

Just wait until you find the quests, where you can run around as a chicken until you get your head chopped off...no seriously!  Also what server did you choose to play on?

Anyway, the shire has some of the best quests in the entire game, plus they're funny and the hobbits, well you should surely know how hobbits are.  Also, just wait until you find the pie and mail delivery quests, they're both quite frustrating, but also very fun!

If I recall there are about 130 quests in the Shire, with plenty of kill x and return, but there is a ton of running all over the dern place.  You will see every square inch of the shire before you're done there...

LOTRO is a solid game, without question.  If I had more time I'd still be playing it.

I think you have to understand that the hobbit quests are very much "hobbit" quests. In many ways they reflect the world that a hobbit might encounter. They are rather innocent and/or whimsical.

However, that doesn't have to stop you from going to other starter areas and taking advantage of their quests. You aren't locked into the shire.

haha, I don't even know where a Major Capatol city is, let alone finding another starter area. o_O

There are only 3 major cities in the game currently, Bree which you'll run into soon enough where you'll spend a great deal of time in and around.  Then there is Rivendell around 35+ and Caras Galadhon, but you won't see that one until you're closer to lvl 60.  Now granted there is The Twenty-First Hall in Moria as well as Suri~Kyla in Forchel, but those are smaller outpost like than a real city.

Then with the Rise of Isengard expansion for 65+ there is the new town of Galtrev, that appears to be as large as Bree, but I havn't seen it first hand to know its actual size!

Oh and the Minstrel class is incredible good.  Wait until you hit lvl 20 and get War Speech {melee stance}, you become quite powerful, and it only gets better later on!  Plus the minstrel is the best healer...

If you find a "rent a horse" (and for the life of me I can't remember what they are called) you should be able to get to bree (main low level city area) or one of the starter areas for practically nothing.

So essentially find an extremely cheap destination and it should be a starter area.

Thorin's Hall, Celondim, I think archet is the human starter area, etc.

Also, if you want to grind by killing stuff look into deeds and tasks. You can earn Turbine Points by completing deeds, then trade the drops for XP by trading them in at task boards.
