Most "fun" class?

kartanakartana Member UncommonPosts: 148

Ok, I just got the game, 60 days of subscription time, The Enterprise Era Bundle, Tribble Pet and the 8 Hour XP Boost thing for free thanks to the Alienware promotion on their website. (they are out of keys!)

What would you say is the most fun class? Which class makes the "boring ground combat" (that's what I heard) more fun?

Thanks!

P.S. Yes I know the game has problems but hey, 60 days for free! So please no "don't play it, game sucks" comments ;)

For me, it has to be the Engineer. As you progress you have a chance to use some useful "gadgets" in ground combat that are helpful.

Ground combat has much improved with the latest update. Yes, ground combat was probably STO's weakest points pre-Season 4. Now however, it is much quicker and better.

And as to those that say "don't play it", it usually comes for those disgruntled FORMER players that have little knowledge of what the game has become since they stopped playing.

Let's party like it is 1863!

STO is alt friendly game, simply try all.

For me most fun is sci ,I has 3 , diferent spec. in space ...oh... + one more at KDF side.

I'd say Tactical in Ground, the fact that you can use Stealth and Melee kits makes it a very unique class.

As for space, It really depends on what you want to do, I found PvE with an engie to be very boring, it takes too long to kill and you never feel at risk of dying, there's no challenge. Science is much more challenging, Tactical is an absolute breeze but its fast enough to be pretty fun.

I'm enjoying my tactical anyway, but yeah I'm somewhat regretting not going science because the science class does get interesting at the end due to all their cool abilities.

As far as the most, "fun" class I think it depends on how you want to play:

If you're the type that likes to deal out damage and take aggro then Tactical would be your way to go as in Space and on the Ground, Tactical can put out the most damage compared to the other 2 classes. And for what Cyberpunk said with the kits he mentioned.

I agree with Gruug but i'm a little biased as the Engineer is my favorite class to play. As Gruug mentioned on the ground you can create gadgets that are helpful to your team which can heal your teammates health (Medical Generator) and replenish their shields (Shield Generator) and even provide more damage output (Phaser Turrets or Quantum Mortars) which in my opinion makes The Engineer on the ground a hybrid between Tactical (DPS) and Science (Heals). In space the Engineer to me is a hybrid Tank/Healer because normally an Engineer uses the Cruiser Class ships which have the highest hull strength of any other ship and can repair itself and other ships with the Engineering Team and Extend Shields skills.

The Science class on the ground is primarily the healer whereas in space Science is more the crowd controller disabling ship subsystems, scrambling enemy sensors and make AoE attacks.

Hopefully this explanation helps you to determine which class you'll want to play.

Note: This is all based on what each class is normally set to do. There have been people that have tweaked builds to make some classes work in other ships and be effective (i.e. An Engineer using an Escort class ship which is normally used by Tactical)
