hey guys, with nothing but themeparks releasing..rift..sw:tor.. etc,  i thought i'd try out lotro again with the new expansions. i have mines of moria expansion and i am vip member. however, my girlfriend is also playing with me and shes f2p member. i am confused on weather or not to get the expansions seperately or go with just isengard xpac. she will be going vip as well.

if we get isengard, what would we be missing out on from the other two expansions? i read the legendary version comes with the quests from both expansion, so i will probably go with that. is there anything else though that would be missing? like will she still be able to get the weapons that lvl up with you, forgot the name.

You will either have to purchase the expansions or get something that has all the expansions such as this "legendary" xpac. Moria has the legendary items you were referring to.

Also, you are aware that LOTRO is a themepark game right?

Maybe the guy was confused because of how much more themeparky LOTRO is than the rest of the themeparks.  It is the only one I can think of (that is currently out) where the game is basically a choose your adventure-style rehashing of an established story with an established beginning and an established end.

Those are "legendary weapons" and that's not how they work. It's how they were originally described, but as you level up, you trade them in for new ones every so often. Like you are given a level 53 one as part of a quest, then you would probably trade it in at 55 and 57 and 60 and then again at 65. And then at the level cap, you generally start with one at 3rd age, but then trade it in for a 2nd age, and then 1st (as Turbine release them).

The items do need to be leveled up, so you have to spend a great deal of time grinding. And almost all of that is lost when you have to trade it in.

This has really ruined the game, and since Turbine hasn't fixed it, it's going to make the 65 to 75 jump a nightmare. But since very little content is included in the next expansion, I guess that's what players are supposed to do to keep them busy.

Anyway, the legendary version of Isengard comes with the quest packs from the expansions. Which means you would be missing the two classes from Moria, and 2 character slots. So not a lot missing. I don't think you miss anything from Mirkwood, as nothing came with it hardly...

Picture the lotr first movie where frodo went through the mines with the ring.  And then picture yourself retaking the mines and making it function again.   Thats what your missing if you dont buy moria.

Well, to put it straight with you.   If you pass up moria, you'll miss almost all of lotro's best expansion ever made.  Story line is very long and in depth in moria, about as deep as the dwarfs dug for mithril.   If there was anything I would ever recommend buying, it would be Mines of Moria.  People still run moria instances, populate 21st hall,  and many other good reasons.   As far as mirkwood goes, it was only one zone and probably wont be really missed at all really, just some escort if you ask me.

Buy Mines of moria, You'll miss out on around 10 zones worth, too much to miss in my opinion
