Abbot Ale, as brewed by Greene King in Bury ST Edmunds...yes it is divinely sent :)

On subject Ale mainly, in the last ten years or so, (thanks to organisations like CAMRA),the standard of ale improved tremondously.  Saying that though the diversity of such ales is being threatened by the before mentioned Greene King.

Anyway yeah Ale I love thee :)

    Guinness no doubt.

Though a Sam Adams every once in awhile is nice... Just not the Summer Ale (sorry Malrod : )

It is kinda like saying all computer games are the same.

Comparing a Bud (you know, like making love in a canoe) with a Guiness, all black with foam like cream is weird.

You of course don't have to like any of them at all, but saying they taste the same is a different matter.

Of course American "lager" are a rather similar bunch with a few exception, but they really have nothing in common with ales or stouts.

Guiness isn't beer.  If I put a Fosters, Carlsberg, Kronenberg in front of you out of the tap, I would put a years wages on you not being able to name them.

If those were all the choices, no problem. I usually get malt Whiskey right as well, unless we are talking the weirder stuff.

You just need to level up a little more.

But take back that about Guiness, it is by far the worlds finest beer.

Yeah, and stout is a beer.

Water + malted barley + hops. Yeah, Guiness also got some potato in it (originally to fool the tax collectors, breweries paid tax after how much barley they used in the old days).

But same basic ingredients in all kinds of beer.

That is wrong. Porter was originally brewed in London and stouts are an evolved porter but not the same thing.

But the original recepy or Guiness is from Dublin. They in fact have a secret ingerdience as well. When they moved in they found some big tub with old beer brewing. They never cleaned it but just added more to it and every Guiness gets a little of that. It together with potato give G it's unique flavor.

ok, I'll hold my hands up, was making the more narrow assumption that we were talking about wheat beer.  Well, not gonna make my bet with a guinness and a Carling.

    Quick pils beer: Jupiler

When I want to sit down and have a drink: Leffe brown or white and Duvel.

To me Duvel is the best beer there is, Leffe is good also, but sometimes I don't feel like drinking candy :-)

Wheat beer? That is actually pretty rare, most beers are brewed from barley, hops and water.

There are a few nice German wheat beer and a buddy of mine always drink them when he actually can find them, but almost all beer are from barley.

    I know my beer. :)

    Griffon Rousse.

Rogue has some good one, but they are hard to find here :/

Guiness is good, or Murphy. I like any stout/imperial stout/porter beer.

Spaten has my vote when I feel pale ale.

When I'm at a mexican restaurant, I order a Dos Equis to feel cool for some reason.
