Ask someone who has been playing Aion for 2 weeks and is excited to go get to the level cap anything

I am currently half way through leveling at level 25 with my Asmo templar and have been playing for two weeks with a friend; we are both extremely happy with this game.

Played the game in three seperate trys and could never get a character past level 25.  I always would get stuck and bored right then.

  • If you try it again nothing will change.

I've been playing for about a week and a half with a friend so obviously I am subject to some high level hate, but rightfully so as I really have no clue what goes on up in the 50's. Either way, with leveling an Asmo Templar to 25 and an Elyos Ranger to 18 I can say that I will be getting to the level cap and playing as long as the game remains enjoyable.

They're a lot of cool systems and nyerk but my favorite thing about Aion so far is the amount of depth you get with your character at a low level. At level 20 any given player already has access to: Stigmas, Combo skills that look half decent, Wings, Dungeons, Crafting, Item enchanting and manastone-ing, Easy transport and reasonable speed increases. Even with all this they're still things to come like the Abyss and more that I am not yet aware of.

Is there a spec tree system like wow's talent system. Or any sort of specialisation once you pick your main class.

  • Aion's form of class specialization is called the Stigma System: http://gameguide.na.aiononline.com/aion/Stigma+Stones

The system allows you to get more skills instead of passive talents making the experiance more fun. Every "stigma tree" is validated in the game in some way and you will never see one that goes unsued.

The issue with Aion is everything that seems new shiny and interesting at lower levels becomes extremely irritating, aggravating, and just extremely frustrating at higher levels. Things like manastones and enchant stones are fun at low levels, but once you're spending 400k or more per stone and looking at roughly 50-100 manastones, and anywhere from 10-50 enchantment stones on average for higher level items, which the enchant stones costing millions of kinah, it gets frustrated. These aren't exaggerated values, these are REALISTIC values for what higher quality ( read: PvP gear, the better PvE / Crafted ) items are going to take.

As with any game Aion has its pro's and cons ..

It is true that enchanting or mana stone socketing some of the higher end golds and eternals is an major pain but the trade off from all of the hard work and failures can be a major blessing , I think the rates are perfectly fine being expensive and challenging so that every player in the game isn't running around in perfect +15 eternals.

The stigma system in this game compares to Spec/talent tree's in other games allowing players to choose their skills to fit their play style , each class has 2 stigma tree's that they can choose between or combine a little of each depending on how they want to build their character. 1 tree is focused more towards pve and 1 is focused towards pvp but both can be useful in all situations.

Every class also has multiple stigmas not related to either tree that can be used in your other free slots allowing characters more variety and flexability. But contrary to what was mentioned in above post there are a few stigmas for every class that are rarely used and do need updated , This doesn't mean they are completely worthless but are sutuational enough that most players would rather not waste a stigma slot to equip one.

I've been playing this game since day 1 and have leveled several characters to 55 and still enjoy playing on a daily basis. this game has been great entertainment for me and the friends I play with and with every patch keeps getting better as more content is added,  My only real complaint over the time i've played is having to find specific classes to form groups which is one reason i'll be moving to GW2 when its released but for those of you that enjoy meeting new friends and either playing casually or competetively I would say this game is worth a try as the community is decent and the content is fun and challenging.  just don't expect this game to be easy mode like some other big name mmo's as aion was designed for asian markets with na/eu as an afterthought.

My biggest complaint about this game is NCsoft's permisiveness to hacking. Oh sure if your caught blatantly using hacks from the multitude of places you can google to obtain them, you'll probably eventually get a warning. But the worst you likely get beyond that is a ban for a day or 2. You will be back in the server hacking in no time and the gm's may catch back up with you later to warn you again at some distant point in the future after you have convinced a percentage of your server to actually report you. But odds are they will never permaban you. They seem to actually permaban hackers at a rate of maybe 1 a month.

Beyond that, its a decent game for what is out atm. I just wish NCwest gave enough of a damn to actually monitor hacking since they are paid to do so instead of relying on the people who pay them to do there job for them

lol this was the same thing everyone said when Aion first came out, then they made it to 40 and everything changed.

Anyways come back on here when you reach at least 50 to give your true recommendations.

I have multiple 50-55 toons on both races and still play on a regular basis and still have fun pvping and doing everything else the game has to offer.

I've tried nearly every mmo out to date and so far Aion is the one i've stuck with the longest due to the fact that I'm having a blast playing it. Dunno what most people expect from games but this game is far more fun to me than wow or pretty much anything else ive played.

Original poster here: When the game came out I played it and it was much different IE the leveling was 400% slower and there were less quests, these are real figures. That drove maybe 75% of the regular mmo croud away from Aion and for good reason. As for the challenge to min max your character at 55 I, like Bunkafish, enjoy that this game doesn't fuck around. If the game isn't challenging then people get bored quickly, not to mention money at high level is not hard to obtain once you put the time into crafting and economic dealings. I will absolutly be posting another thread when I hit the level cap and another after that once I've been at the level cap for a while, even though none of you will remember.

PS: Just hit 22 on my ranger and I am anticipating the abyss and rifting even though low level pvp is negligable.
