Guild wars is going in a downward spiral !!!

ChonkaChonka Member Posts: 27

I tell you what, I used to love Guild Wars but the reason why I am about to quit for good and probably not go back is because half the players are idiots. They ruin this great game for me. I think the reason why there are so many idiots is the fact that it's free.  You end up getting all kinds of riff-raff idiots who think they are playing X-Box by themselves and who dont know what the meaning of "teamwork" or "grouping" is and why it's benificial.  They make you waste an hour of time attempting a mission and drop out or run ahead and get everyone killed.  I'm not saying that all players in Guild Wars are like this so I'm not hating. It's just ashame that theres so many that I'm gonna quit.

I'd rather pay for a MMORPG and leave out the "13yr old kiddy freebies"....

Bye Guild Wars "wave"image

The graphics and "ooo ahhh pretty effects" wear off and your left with a bunch of n00bs who have never played a mmo before asking you for weapons and doing casinos.

Yes, unfortunatly the community could be better. Notice though, the first word in the title of the game? If you're getting fed up with the community for one reason or another, try and find a guild you like. This way, youre instantly connected to people who can help you PVE, PVP, sell/trade items, etc.

See that's the problem. Theres way too many guilds..... anyone who wants can start their own easily. So you have a bunch of crap guilds running around called things like "Jany'sMoMsPwnsYoo" and all of whom are a bunch of douchebags.

Oh man, you have no idea how much I try to avoid grouping with random people now. They ruin the game and waste up to a hour of your life. They don't know how to strategize and only know how to rush in and be superman. That's why there's henchmen!

Although I do agree that the community is the most immature I have seen in an MMORPG...I still have to say...can I have your stuff?

Like Orcc said, your best option is to go and join a Guild. If you find a guild with mature, like-minded people you will have a ton planning out PvP or GvG battles. Like you said there are a ton of guild out there, so it stands only to reason that there is one out there for you. If you look hard enough maybe you can find one. Or maybe even start your own?

i'd suggest movng to the european servers, but that would be a little drastic.

    ---sig---

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...

Well, what game out there does not have idiots that ruin the game?

    Guild wars is on XBOX?

With the recent popularity of gaming you are going to see more and more of this. Not all players know how to play a MMO and have to learn, unfortunately many never learn. BTW I have a friend who's 8 year old kid has been nominated to be a guild leader in a game, so not all kiddies are terrible, and not all 20-30 year olds are mature.

Without those "NOOBS" that are gaming for the first time, games would eventually peter away to nothing. That was what was good about the old Ultima and EQ1, everyone was rather new and people "HELPED" each other and you listiened to each other. now you get all kinds of "RIFF-RAFF" that think they are soooo L33t that everyone should play as they say and do.

GOOD LUCK finding a game that keeps you excited and happy, if you do let me know.image

Witty saying to amuse you goes here.

It's free, what do you expect?

I swear, people gripe about monthly fees then when one comes out that doesn't have them they gripe about the community.

Sorry folks... you get what you pay for.

Free servers may have something to do with this. But I have to be perfectly honest to say that almost every popular online game, from 2-player head-to-head RTS matches to MMOGs, has a derth of idiots playing. I've encountered more than my fair share of them in all but the most niche of games, and even in those there are plenty enough.

I admit that sometimes the team you randomly party with just sucks sometime. However, there are still some good players/guilds out there. Just stick with those you like and you will perhaps enjoy this CORPG again.image

The Best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.

Pay to play games have more mature communities (a bit anyway) becuase they usually have to work/suck up to someone to get the money to play. Humility builds character. You got bored of EQ2 though at that low of a level? That's a pretty low boredom threshold. Try EQ2 again, or WoW or something. Guild Wars is a great game but its free, so of course you get a bunch of Yahoos.image

    Oh...My...God....

    MMORPG
    ----------
Massive (yep it sure is that)
Multiplayer (hmm i think thats a yes on this one)
Online (guess it has to be in order to be multiplayer)
RolePlaying (as much as any other MMORPG I suppose)
Game (this is a game right?)

And by the way....you really had to post that crap? Its not like I made the point of my thread to say "Guild Wars is definitely an MMORPG"...no...I just happened to describe it as one but not by making it the point of the post.

    Yahoo! online pool

    MMORPG
    ----------
Massive (currently over 31k players, enough to make most MMORPGs jealous)
Multiplayer (hmm i think thats a yes on this one)
Online (guess it has to be in order to be multiplayer)
RolePlaying (sadly enough, there is about as much role playing in pool as RPGs these days)
Game (this is a game right?)

The problem with just finding a guild in Guild Wars..

    1) Like the other guy said there is a million bad guilds runing around

    2) Guilds serve no real purpose in the game (other in two types of PVP areas)

    3) Wining in those above said "guild pvp" areas means nothing so you need a organized group of players working together to win at what ammounts to "nothing"

  • fulmanfufulmanfu Member Posts: 1,523

true there is a million guilds. i kind of like knowing what each guidl stands for in a game, but this game..really i do not lie when i say you can go trhough a day, meet 200 people all in a guild and wont see the same one twice.

  • DekronDekron Member UncommonPosts: 7,359

I totally agree that starting a guild is waaaaay to easy. First off, there is not a fee to start a guild. It should be at least 10,000 GP to start one.

One way I think that they should have done it is charge a monthly fee for people who wanted a guild, not to be a member of, but to be a leader. That way, only serious people would have started one and they would be making an extra say $3.95 per month.

Yo man I hate when people are to dumb to strategize. If someone can't strategize in a MMORPG, they ARE a kid, unless they already have a stragatist in the party.
