PC Price points

Interesting read, if your into computer history.

The average price point for a PC is around $1000. It has been that way as long as I can remember it. In this interview, it's discovered that the very first PC actually had a price point of around $1000 and it's basically been that way ever since. I find it interesting that the average price for a computer hasn't really changed over the course of 30+ years now, but how the capabilities certainly have.

If you adjust for inflation using the CPI, then $1000 when the Altair 8800 launched in 1975 would be more than $4000 today.
