This one just popped up on FaceBook's newsfeed: http://www.lotro.com/news/pressreleases/1160

Looks like what we (EU players) feared all along is finally happening...

Already posted it as news to the MMORPG.com staff...

Now with CodeMasters no longer in control of the actual servers, chances are that in the near future the servers will be relocated to the US as well. To me it's not a big deal, living in Western Europe (I have a ping of around 100 with the US servers), but I know a lot of players from other parts in Europe who'll get big latency issues then.

...that is if (more like when) servers will be relocated. Eventually they'll relocate them for sure. Servers in Europe are 50% more expensive than in the US due to lots of environmental taxes...

There is also one BIG positive thing with Turbine now having control of the servers... We don't have to wait for the updtes anymore. CodeMasters was more than once too late releasing updates. I remember last year with the 3rd anniversary, where we could celebrate it 2 weeks after the actual anniversary :-(

Yes and no... When servers are relocated to the US (which will happen for sure in the future) it's bad. But faster updates is good...

Servers are definately moving to US. confirmed by turbine here: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?392614-Server-and-GM-location

People from the US will have a better time Raiding and PvMP than EU. As this is why I play MMO's it does not make sense to handicap myself when there are better MMO's out there I can pay my monies to.

I think popcorn could be in order for june 1st if their last attempt at something similar is anything to go by.  (DDO..  exact same thing..  exact same companies involved.)

They're not doing it exactly the same way they did the DDO move. The servers are more than likely being moved over intact as they are now via imaging. Then the EU players will have to create an account on the Turbine account system. Player data will be migrated into the accounting system via some type of key or app linking it to the new account just made. Then they will convert the client differences of the EU clint.
