free secondary MMO?

FFXI is down right now, for at least a week due to the stuff going on in Japan and i feel its going to be even longer. I'm looking for something to play in the meantime. I thought about buying rift, but just don't know if i should spend 50 bucks on a game just to play as a 2ndary mmo. I don't want to play a free cash shop game where I will still have to spend tons of money to do anything either.

    since you like the FF saga...try Antlantica Online.It's free and cool turn based combat FF style

    Try Pandora Saga, it even has that FFXI feel and style to it.

    Unfortunately that the main purpose of cash shop in such games.

    You wont find any free games without a cash shop i dont think, unless its a browser game.

    Ive played many free to play games without using the cash shop but ive also not been interested in them enough to stick out end game.

    Vindictus is my current favorite casual free to play game.

    DCUO is great for casual gaming because as abundant as the content is its very repetitive. Extremely fun tho.

    I offer those just to maybe help you pass the time. Theres also a couple facebook games that are kinda cool. One is similar to Dungeon Fighter Online which i enjoy but i cant remember the name at the moment.

    Oh by the way there is a 30 day free trial for Fallen Earth. http://www.fallenearth.com/ When i watched the gameplay videos for this i was not interested at all but i finally gave in to trying it due to major boredom and have found myself really enjoying this game.

    I just realized you replied already to your own thread, i was answering the original post.

    I dont know how much the cash shop effects these 2 games because i havent played them in awhile, but Bloodline Champions is really freaking awesome for a PvP game, no leveling up, just pick your class and go play, arena based. http://www.bloodlinechampions.com/

    You can also try out Land of Chaos Online, i think its a pretty cool mix of rpg/fps. http://loco.en.alaplaya.net/
