Story, Which one is yours?

Hello MMORPG.com!

Friday enthusiasm out of the way,.. I've just been reading Darth Bane: Path of Destruction on my lunch break here in the UK. I have to admit it made me curious as to the plot of the Inquistor story, which is supposed to be quite similair, rags to power kind of story, interestingly enough the inquisitor is more similair to Darth Zannah than Bane, which I'm sure will keep fans of both happy.

Another thing that interests me is Drew Karpyshyn has a hand in all classes, but was for a time more focused on the Jedi Knight. Ironic after his successful Sith novel trilogy, but there were jedi characters in those so It isn't too much of a stretch. I myself will play the jedi knight first, purely because I feel a KoTOR story belongs from the p.o.v of a jedi or sith.

That being said I was against being characters such as the smuggler and the agent purely because I didn't think they'd be that exciting. That was until I saw the gunslinger and the trailers for the classes. I'm basically just putting thoughts to the forum here but I'd like to hear how your thought processes are going on this.

I'm also quite convinced if I catch another episode of the clone wars I may end up being pulled in by the trooper.

At first i liked the idea of the imperial agent because they can use cover and call in airstrikes.  But now i'm sort of torn as i was in kotor.

First i'd like to be a sith warrior (cause i like being evil in those games) and like to swing my lightsaber around, but then it switched to being a light sided consular because i like being the goodie goodie healer type.  Then it moved to trooper because i like the big guns and that video of the trooper video with her shooting the sith out of the sky just made me want to play it even more.

But finally i'll most likely settle back down into the imperial agent role because i like the story possibilities of messing with peoples minds and doing things in secret.  Plus that hiding behind walls is still a really cool thing for me.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

I will go Sith Warrior first, then Sith Inquisitor, then Bounty Hunter. Maybe BH before the SI. BTW I love the clone wars cartoon, they have really stepped it up especially the last Mortis trilogy. Actually my story is to be a moisture farmer on tatioee(sp) named Mars Lars, distant reletavie of Owen Lars. I die in a freak explosion when a protical droid and an astromech driod explode due to spilling blue milk on them.

As a self-confessed Jennifer Hale fanboy, a female trooper (will do my best to make her look like my female Shepard!) first.

    Then probably Jedi Consular.

I probably won't go to the empire side and just go through the rest of the republic's classes afterwards.

One of my fav SW books was the Jedi Padawan series, telling about Obi-Wan as Padawan of Qui-Gon. It really gave a nice insight into what it means to be a Jedi. A bit simple, but nice stories.

I was actually thinking about this long and hard.  After about an hour though I realized something.  I just don't know enough about the lore of THIS PARTICULAR GAME to really write any more story than a basic skeleton.  I will have to wait and see how it goes after it releases.  At least for now.

They explained the whole story in the holoviewer , infact its a very intriguiging and narrowrated story .

I was really suprised how well they explained how the sith empire and everything was formed .

Why the downfall of the republic .

One of the reasons I still love bioware they do have a flair for excellent story and lore telling .

It's that very flare for story and depth that worries me about writing a story for my character.  When I do write the stories I like to get pretty detailed too and I don't want my story conflicting with the lore of the game itself.  I can get pretty OCD about that to be honest.  So I will wait until I can get some more details.

Don´t worry they left your character creation as good as you want , its that they gave background to there story why SWTOR is set in that era , it was very entertaining for me .

I really liked the way they told it , infact its strange but they gave out the latest time period first , then work there way even more back towards the lore .

So that was a interesting twist .

Most people start at the beginning not the end , they did the reverse when telling the lore .

Yea, I did notice that and it really is a neat way to make you want more.  My biggest problem though is I don't know the real stories on how the Jedi Temples or Sith Temples work in this time frame and since I am starting with one of those classes, most likely, I want to know more. Ages to starting training, family relations and obligations, Complete social outlooks, etc.  That is the stuff I want to know more about in this games time frame since it will impinge on my characters story.

Sith story line is new so I cannot say how it´s going to work , since the 1 apprentice and 1 master rule has not been set yet.

The Jedi in the republic are based on the Starwars (1-3) phantom menance etc .

So for the Sith you have almost like free reign , since there focus of anger is on the republic .

For destroying there empire , but both classes stories can play out the same way .

Since both have renegades thats more then possible in that era , Sith following other leaders or aspiration .

(see the ghost of the old sith lord tale)

Jedi going rogue is already very common .

But anyway Gman its most important that you understand in Bioware games they never follow a linear script.

They allow and even encourage emotional freedom in anyway you want .

So you are not bound by rule specialist and thats one of the reason they set this ERA so far away from the movies.

They have creative freedom to make anything they want , as long its plausible so no pink flying elephants .

But they want to give the creative freedom to players too , thats Bioware , so if people are naughty they can be naughty .

If people are nice they can be nice , anything players want to roleplay .

Actually, I already knew all of this, but I do appreciate the reiteration since it helps to be reminded.  Like I said, I like to write detailed stories for my character and I just want to make sure that whatever story I do end up writing covers all angles.  My OCD for this particular subject is just that strong.  That's why I want to see a more detailed situation of the games universe.  I am most certain I will come up with a story that "flies in the face of convention", but I will also have reasons clearly written for it.
