New rig, help needed please

My maximum budget is approx £500 give or take. I've spotted these two & was hoping for opinions on which is superior for gaming or if either is suitable.

Be prepared to be bombarded by posters saying "you shouldn't have this", "I'd do that" or "You should build it yourself". I won't do that to you though. You have found two computers that you are interested in and I will tell you which one is the best for gaming out of the two. The answer is the AMD with the GTX 460 card. While the AMD vs the Core I7 isn't so much the comparison here, the I7 build has a wimpier GT 430.
So if these are the two you've decided on then get the AMD with the GTX460. It's cheaper (mostly because of the over priced intel I7) and has more sleek looking case as well. Just add another 4 GB ram when you are able to.... but you'll be OK for now.

Tough call realy.. both computers are definately good rigs for gameing, but realy it comes down the the cards and the processers.. for me i would take the i7 porc because well.. i love mine.. ever since i got it i cant look at other procs expecialy amd.. but the card with the set up with the i7 is severely lacking compared to the amd machine.. gt430 is nothing compared to that sexy gtx460.
Personaly, i would tkae the g3 pc over the amd 6. case is also better in the g3 i think. would just upgrade the graph card later on.
Man don't tell the poor OP to get the more expensive machine with the weaker GPU AND to replace the GPU!!!! The OP is looking for the best gaming rig of the two. Go with the AMD/GTX460!!!!! Intel proc is not enough to justify throwing out the weak GPU and replacing it. That AMD proc is easily 90-95% of the processor that the Intel I7 is but at less cost... which is what AMD does - gives you value. I've had a great experience with my custom build AMD. But seriously though, the AMD rig in this case is the better gaming rig out of the box due to the GTX 460. Swap the two cards and I'd happliy tell the OP to get the Intel.... but alas it has a weak GT 430.

not going to argue that point, if the op just wants to buy the computer and never touch it, then i would definately advise going with the amd machine.. that gtx460 is a hell of a nice card. upgrade wise however, the i7 machine has more opertunities.. Was just stating what i would do, then again im sitting on a 2k gaming rig..

Want to buy a new computer when they won't say what's in it? What power supply does it have? What motherboard? What hard drive? What memory? They won't say. Think that's because it's super awesome stuff and they want to keep it a secret? Or think it's more likely that they don't want you to find out that it's cheap junk? If you're unable or unwilling to assemble parts yourself (which isn't as hard as you might think), I'd at least start by finding a site that will tell you what parts they use.
It's the 1 gb version though meh...Mine is the 2 gb version mmmm higher res textures.

Umm... eek. You're paying quad core prices for a dual core processor. You're only using one of the two memory channels. You're paying a bunch extra for 2 GB of video memory in a system that won't run well if 1 GB isn't enough. You're paying extra for AMD's relatively higher end integrated graphics, then getting a discrete video card so that you won't even use the integrated graphics that you just paid extra for. An 80 GB hard drive is going to be really old and really slow; newer hard drives use much larger platters than that.
