Please let me know if all these pieces will work together (first computer I am building), and also if there is anything I should really change or if there are cheaper options out there available for me. I'm not looking to do anything extreme on my computer just looking to run Rift and other mmo games on high/ultra settings and i am hoping this cpu lasts me the next 3+ years. Thanks

The power supply is cheap junk.  A real 550 W power supply wouldn't be rated at only 360 W on the +12 V rails.  Optimistically, it might be a decent 400 W power supply with a fake wattage rating, but it's unlikely to even be that.  Don't buy that, but get something else.

I see that the Seasonic S12II Bronze that I had been linking has gone up in price, which is probably why you wanted to get something else instead.  Try this:

Note that that doesn't come with a power cord.  If you've got one that you can salvage off of a previous computer, then use that.  If not, we'll have to figure out what to do about it.

It looks like the optical drives have changed in prices, too.  They're pretty much a commodity, so try a cheaper one like this:

I'd be leery of buying Windows on Ebay, as you might get pirated software, or the license might already be in use by someone else.  In either case, you might well just be out the money and not have a working OS.

Thanks for all your help Quizz you have really assisted me greatly in this endeavor.

At the risk of sounding like a complete noob, I have a couple more questions. One, I dont have a PSU cord anywhere, so what's my next best option for a PSU?

Also, on my desktop right now, the disc tray that I use to insert cd/dvd into my computer. Is that what an optical drive is? Or is the optical drive solely for burning dvd/cd? If so then what do I use as the tray to insert discs into my desktop, is that part of what's included with the case?

Finally, as far as Windows 7 goes, should I just get this?

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Windows+7+Home+Premium+Upgrade+Family+Pack+-+Windows/9493185.p?id=1218113928235&skuId=9493185&st=windows 7&lp=2&cp=1

I have another computer in my house on vista and my brother is also on vista so I could use the 3 upgrades (including this computer I am building). Does this family upgrade have the 64 bit version for it? Or what version of Windows 7 do I need to buy exactly since I am building a computer from the ground up that won't have any operating system on it from the start? I am not using anything from my current computer on my new one. Thanks again

An upgrade version of Windows 7 means that you have to have a valid copy of Vista, and it will convert it to Windows 7.  It won't let you upgrade from nothing to Windows 7.

Optical drive is the generic term for CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, and a variety of other standards.  In this case, it means a drive that reads and writes both CDs and DVDs.

If you don't have a power cord, then the next best option is to get one, and still get the Antec EarthWatts Green that I linked.  If one computer will be taken down to be replaced by the new one, then reuse the power cord from that one.  If not, then you could ask a tech-savvy friend if he has one laying around, as some people will have a bunch of them accumulated over the years.  Failing that, you could just buy one:
