The newly formed Imperator Online guild Legio Romana Pia Fidelis (RPF) launches today, and as part of our opening celebrations we are running a short story competition. Not only are we stumping up a few prizes, Mythic Entertainment (developers of Imperator, Dark Age of Camelot) have been gracious enough to throw a few items into the kitty as well!
So, pop along to our site @ http://imperator.pia-fidelis.com/competition.php and see what you can win! (entry is open to everyone, and not limited to just members of RPF)

So, noone want to try and win official Imperator t-shirts and hats? (thinly veiled bump, but I don't want people to miss out on this opportunity!)

No, but I would like to win a Beta key
Like I'm going to give them away to anyone but my own guild!

If I enter and place, can I join your guild and get a beta key? :P
I don't play new games without finding a guild first :P
Well, currently guild invites are on the basis of involvement with the Imperator Community (of which there are only two really active sites to judge from, unless you speak French) - I'll be running more open invitiations once the game is in beta and I get to see how the whole kaboodle will fit together.
Membership to RPF is not on the basis of entering the competition - the compo is there to help boost the community, and interest in the game as a whole. We get Imperator short-stories, you get free swag, everyone goes home happy!
Mythic have said that the winners of the competition will be showcased on their Community site (their Imperator equivalent of Camelot Herald, for anyone who knows DAoC out there) so you even get a bit of public recognition

Why not? Is a competition after all.
Why don't give away the best prize?
--Ha, Pwned--
Pvp = godliness
Playing: WoW
Waiting on: Gods and Heroes
Then allow me to clarify, I do not have any beta keys, and as far as I know the game is not even in beta I am giving away the prizes that Mythic supplied me with, as well as spending money from my own personal pocket for more prizes - I am an Imperator enthusiast, and (eventually) guild leader.
That said, if I did get hold of a handful of beta keys, I might hold one or two back for a competition in the future But the rest would go guild-wards!
So, if you are still interested in winning some official swag, do pop over to http://imperator.pia-fidelis.com/competition.php to find out how to go about it! Don't be shy!

Ehehh I am just teasing about the Beta
And I am also helping you out to "bump" a bit this thread.
I think Imperator is going to be a great game, and it deserves a bit more awareness
Quite so! I feel Mythic are pulling out all the stops for this game and we're going to end up with one of the best sci-fi MMORPG's, bar none. State based combat assures that you have to pay attention to combat, whether you are a Trooper or a Biotech.
So, own a piece of Imperator history today by entering this competition! The t-shirt and hat are vintage E3 2004 and the shirt is emblazoned with the slogan "No dancing required" across the back as a direct challenge against Star Wars Galaxies
Oh, and as to the beta-thing, I had this comment in an email from Sanya earlier this year - "one of the beta phases will consist of players invited through their guilds, as opposed to individual invitations."
So, there you have it

Since we are in theme, what is the difference between Imperator and Anarchy?
This game looks more like an evolution of AO rather than SWG.
I believe the t-shirts' SWG reference was because it was exhibiting at the same E3 at the time
And you're right that it bears more comparison to Anarchy Online, however Imperator is wholly more recognisable as being set more in our reality - you can visit Rome and the Moon as well as the more far-flung parts of the universe. Plus, ground-breaking new combat systems, excellent graphics, and a proven development team.
So, hit up the competition, enter your finest work of game fiction, and win big!

Funny that, seeing how one of the developers was in the #Imperator IRC channel happy nattering about how he's working on class balance ready for E3. Oh, and the official site was updated yesterday. Plus the premiere fansite (Imperator Okratas) just got better, splitting off from the Okratas Network and going solo as Vox Plebis.
Oh, and of course the press-release that states Mythic are opening up shop in Europe to help release Imperator simultaneously both sides of the Pond.
I reckon I'm fairly secure in my fandom

More Imperator news @ Vox Plebis in the form of an official fansite kit - new screenshots, backgrounds and logos. Oh, and a new Developers Diary.
Competition still open too!

This is gonna be truly amazing.
Just a friendly reminder that the deadline for the Imperator Online competition hosted by Legio Romana Pia Fidelis is due to end at the end of the month, and I'm not seeing a great deal of submissions yet!
Perhaps you need a few piccies of some of the prizes (though I apologise for my poor webcam shots!)...
T-shirt Rear
The Shirt
The Hat on The Shirt
Hat Closeup
Pop along to http://imperator.pia-fidelis.com/competition.php and read up on the rules to get scribbling!

Competitions that require slogans/stories/"why you should win" always have a low(er) amount of submissions which also means they are easier to win (saw it on a program about people entering competitions for a living, no joke ).
So if you can write without spelling errors and with good grammar do enter because you might win (read up on Imperator first though ).
This is your one week reminder.
And, for interests sake, also see the E3 2005 cinematic for Imperator Online @ voxplebis.com just freshly uploaded.

Time is ticking, and the standards of the entries so far are very good (the winning three entries will be posted online when we announce winners, and showcased by Mythic as well).
Just to keep the Imperator news ticking over, there are now Booth Photo's and new concept art linked over at Vox Plebis - go take a gander while you scribe your literary masterpiece!

My congratulations to all who took part!
