Lan is awsome, but it's a high level server mostly, C.hollow has a great com too and more mid to low level players over all. If you go to C.hollow, I would recommend the People of Middle Earth. A large community with nice folks, they should let you in np.
I recommend you try brandywine it's the server with the highest player population and a ton of helpful kins. Here's a few of them http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Kinships_of_Brandywine.
