Aion is nominated for 7 prizes at MMOsite Reader's Choice Awards 2010. However, the result of the current phase shows total failure of Aion. The votes Aion got is laughably few.

MMOSite is a horrid horrid site.
F2P games direct their players there.
Good games generally don't.
So any results are pretty useless.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
This. ^
I don't know if it is a failure or not but I do know that I am glad that I only paid $12 for it.
Aion seems to be an old school MMO with a slow leveling rate mostly dependant upon grinding away at mobs and has a high dependency on items. Most "western MMOs" (i.e. massively successful MMOs) have shunned these things in favor of a faster-paced less gear-dependant design.
Then again the whole "skill matters" idea is a bit too new to blame Aion devs for not catching on to and the whole gear trumps skill approach is pretty much standard fair for a Korean game. Though NCSoft could have just looked at the success of Guild Wars to see this shift in game approach. Its hard to do well in today's MMO filled environment if you don't pay attention to the trends, let alone without having a really strong first year showing.
The armor is really cool and the character customization is amazing. Flight is pretty fun too (or could be if were less restrained). In the end, I don't know if it is a failure. I do know that it certainly wasn't the success that NCSoft hoped it would be and I know that I'm losing interest in it surprisingly quickly.
Have to agree with this. MMOSite goes to the point of IMO making MMORPG.com's F2P column look impartial.
Anyway it is #2 on the Best of P2P list losing only to WoW, which had me laugh a bit considering Ragnarok Online is still listed as P2P, TCoS and Hellgate still exist (or have been re-released already) and that does server to prove the favoritism towards F2P.
Quoted for absolute truth.
Hardly. This 'asian garbage' is better than 99% of the MMOs listed on this site.
Most MMO's today are garbage. Aion is just one more piece of trash piled up in the landfill that is the current MMO industry.
Everyone agrees the game was bad.
The true question is, which game is worse...This or the new FF?
Seems like only yesterday this site was full of people saying Aion is the greatest game ever.
I'm going to give blade and soul a shot.
If that ends up being a stinker too, then I'm officially done with south east asian MMOs.
Everyone? I like Aion. And actually I like the new FF also.
So not really everyone.

I liked the game too. I agreed with my wife to come back when they fixed two things. The 2 gig memory break limit (fixed) and melee flight (introducing ground abyss is not fixing it).
Once they fix flight melee I'll be resubbing.
Um Korea isn't in South East Asia, just so's you know.
Yes, I'm sure the 4million+ people playing Aion think it's simply terribad and should be taken down immediately...
I realize the game isn't for everyone, but trying to make the game look like a failure simply because you don't like it only makes you look silly.
K, I'll rephrase that for you then:
then I'm officially done with Asian MMOs.
Done.
Aion is definitely not a failure globally. In the West? Maybe. It depends who you talk to and their expectations.
Is Aion a failure ?
NO but like all the other games on the market, it's not for everyone.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Well with your sig, I'm comfortable with that.
People that post pictures of kiddie porn or gruesome deaths are not people. People that watch anime generally aren't. Or they don't mind watching/doing the same rehashed thing time and time again. Not only has the art style not changed since the 40s, neither have the stories or cliche of any of them. There are those that do get bored in that the cartoons are just making them too darned turned on, so they make yaoi or hentai out of them. Yeah, completely normal and not at all a bad thing. zzzzzzzzzzz....
You generalizing the 5% or so of 4channers as the majority. People who watch anime are everyday people like you and me, what's the difference between anime or the normal tv or movies you watch?
I have feeing that these numbers aren't kosher. Allods, 25-29 votes. Aion got 600 or so which is pretty decent. But dynasty warriors online got over 6000 votes. There are games on there I've never even heard of. I don't trust this a bit.
There's no denying Aion is a failure in the west.
On the other hand, it's ridiculously popular on private servers. That's mostly due to the elimination of all the things that people don't enjoy from retail though.
While i enjoyed in 1000 times more than FFXIV, it still doesn't offer enough content to be worth a monthly fee.
Monster Squad avatar = instant win.
This just makes me laugh. I think this should be enough to close this thread for trolling. If your rated right after WOW that would make you the best new thing since not a failure. Funny...
I'm also a film buff, ?
