yeah i love how there are rumors that Bethesda has been working on an MMO since 2007.  which i wasn't entirely suprised.  I figured they would get into the mix sooner or later.  I forsee an interesting future that Bethesda, Bioware and Blizzard will be the big 3 companies to have huge online followings while the rest just keep making clones of what they do in order to try and grab some of the money flow.

I'm sure there will be a Fallout Online to soon follow once Bethesda gets all the issues worked out with Interplay in the ongoing court issues over the fallout license.

    Finally.

I found TES III had more gameplay elements, but IV had better graphics. I hope V is a good game and not an Engine Experiment. ^_^

"Instead, Bethesda has created an entirely new game engine"

Finally they changed their overused engine

    "It has potential"
-Second most used phrase on existence
    "It sucks"

    From the Eurogamer link

"Howard wouldn't be drawn on many details about the game, but said the technology was derived from the engine that powered Fallout 3, albeit with significant modifications."

So, no shiny new ID engine? At least the modding community can keep working with what they know oh so well.

For me, the best adventure mod is (edit) "Ivellon". If played by just using torches it's one of the creepiest experiences I've had in the game.

I hope that if Bethesda does make an MMO, that it's not a TES game. Don't ruin my favorite series simply because you want to jump on the bandwagon. Ok? Thanks.

  • ComnitusComnitus Member Posts: 2,462

You guys are silly. Tamriel is a ripe target for an MMO. Since the beginning of... well, TES, hundreds of people have already speculated on how a TES MMO could easily work, and most of them are right on the money.

TES MMO will exist someday, but no, I don[object Window]t think it[object Window]ll be TES V. Frankly I[object Window]m kind of interested in the Oblivion movie, but my expectations for Hollywood are abysmally low.

Sequel to Oblivion? Vanilla Oblivion was a piece of shit, only thing that made it any good was/is the modding community. I hope to fucking god they've learned from their mistakes.

Voice acting?...meh. It's nice for the first playthrough, but... how many times have you played through Morrowind/Oblivion? I think you get my point.

As an MMO? If such a thing would happen, it would without a question take the safe route and what we would get would be just another fantasy quest-grinder.

  • Swafdawg23Swafdawg23 Member Posts: 390

i actually wouldnt mind to see a Elder Scrolls MMO because theres so much they could do if they did it right..  but only if they continue making the single player games as well..

I"ve played through Morrowind for over 2 years. I'm still playing Oblivion. So I guess I don't get your point.

I wouldn't say that Vanilla Oblvioin was garbage but the modding community did make some nice changes that made it better.

I don't like OOO but use Francisco's changes as well as a mod that makes combat a bit more challenging and Reneer's guard overhaul.

other than those and an animation mod, most of my mods are for weapons and armor and a race here and there as far as changes to the game.

Otherwise I have a few adventure mods added which add to the replayability factor.

Compared to Morrowind, Oblivion (Vanilla) is utter shit. There's only two things Oblivion does better, graphics and combat. Saying that "the modding community made some nice changes" wins you the understatement award this year. I would rather have my fingernails pulled off, than play Oblivion without any mods.

It took you 2 years to play through Morrowind, did I get that right? If so, then that makes you either supercasual or really bad at gaming.

In my mind, compared to Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Morrowind is 'utter shit', but does that really matter?

I agree with a few of the other posters, I don't think TES V will be the MMO. Most likely TES V is being developed alongside the MMO, and will release sooner. Might even be the first to feature multiplayer, unless you want to count Battlespire.

I really enjoyed both games ...as I have mentioned the Mods for Oblivion made my gaming experience amazing

I will say that Morrowind was much more complex ...I remember going on sub-quests that took days that were nothing to do with the main plot ,,and exploring cities for hours just looking for one NPC

    It was great :)

Could not agree more. TES III is the best so far. Lets hope V will have game quality of III and graphics of IV

TES MMO? Would be interesting as pure PvE game. If it includes PvP, it'll fail

As subjective as to which is a better game aside, What scares the eveloving stuffing out of me is how many Console gamers LOVE Oblivion, where you cannot mod it one tiny bit. With Mods it becomes whatever game you want it to be, as a modding platform, its amazing, as a vanilla release, it leaves much to be desired, in my opinion.

The game is only enjoyable with mods, but with mods the game is really cool. Still the game itself was such a backstep in comparison to the much better Morrowind game.

Hard to believe that this time the new version will be a successor like Elder Scrolls III Morrowind again...

my major gripe with mmo gamers is their desire to make every damn game into a mmorpg.

They could be playing street fighter and say it would make a good mmo...

As for the Oblivion vs Morrowind topic I enjoy both equally. Vanilla and modded versions of both games are fantastic imo.

    Bring on TES V!!!!!
