I have about ~$325 to upgrade (more like... slowly build) my PC. I plan on doing further upgrades later. My total upgrade price should equal $662.93 (excluding shipping) if I play my cards right on Newegg (rebates and combos).
AMD Athlon 64 3800+, @2.4GHz
2.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 200MHz
Acer EM61SM/EM61PM (Socket AM2)
256MB GeForce 6100 nForce 405
(2) 156GB Seagate ST316081
Delta Electronics 250W PSU
I know. Terrible.
I think I should get this first:
With this $284.97 revamp, I have ~$40 to spare, thanks to the rebates.
I need the PSU in order to feed that GPU, I think. And I need a new case regardless. Of course, without a new CPU/RAM + mobo, I think I'll have a very narrow bottleneck regarding performence with games and whatnot.
The rest of my revamp would consist of ($377.96):
It's nothing amazing. But definitly better than what I currently have. And yes, I plan on using 6.0GB/s and CrossFire later on. So I guess what I'm really asking is: should I upgrade my CPU or GPU first? Will I have more than I need? Keep in mind I have a bunch of untouched games sitting on my desk because I don't have the firepower to run them.
