Is it possible for Instanced World MMORPG to get a Persistent Seamless world added on later?

DDO, and Guild Wars both were built for a Instanced world. But in engine like these, is it possible for a Persistent Seamless world to be added in later. (Not for these games, but I was giving an example of what I mean by instanced world mmorpgs.)

Has any Instanced World MMORPG ever get such a revamp before?

Well the simple answer is, anything is possable..if the developer wants to spend the money.

But honestly, I think the amount of money that they would have to spend to do an almost complete write of the code wouldnt be worth it.

So truthfully, No I dont think you'll ever see it happeneing.

Of course it can and it is also very simple to do. The fact that the world is instanced does not mean it cannot be persistent, evolve and change.

    EDIT:
I can see benefits of persistent world but cannot see a single reason why the world should be seamless, it does not matter at all.

It's all about cost, why in the world would a company spend tons of money inorder to revamp an instanced game when they could have done that in the first place....Oo
