- What do you think is the best solution for gold spammers and multiboxers should we just ignore them?
- Have they decided to make you stop playing the game? or if you haven't played yet are they the reason your not playing UWO?
Comments
"Spammers" is obvious enough. What is the multibox problem though?
The reason I'm not playing the game is because of the software it makes you install when you download it. Game guard or something like that.
Multiboxers is a term used in UWO it defines - people who are running more than one account on a single PC
I'm not saying it isn't a problem, but I'm still unsure why it is a problem?
they make the ingame economy unstable
Running multiple accounts on one pc doesnt make you a bad person.
I've multiboxed off and on for years on multiple games. There is no difference between a multiboxer and a group of players.
Bots are bat, boxers arent.
Implement a 1 client running at a time per computer rule? With a free to play game it's going to be very hard to enforce things like that. That would fucking suck for those 2 problems to ruin the entire game.
the gameplay itself relies on trade a character may purchase only a limited amount of good to trade to another port but since there are multis you can use the other characters to purchase extra trade goods and pass it on to the main for a larger profit
In some games, multiple accounts/multiboxing doesn't ruin anything. In other games, it can ruin a lot of stuff.
There has to be a way to fix it. Hopefully the game won't fall because of it.
yes what im looking for are suggestions on how this can be stopped
You can't really stop it. If you limit 1 per computer, multiboxers will just use more then one computer. If you limit it to 1 per IP address you will piss a lot of people off, plus you can alway just run though proxies.
this has really become a turn off for the game to other players and is also messing up the community with accusations
This is what I was thinking as well. Both solutions can be easily worked around, and can piss people off like you said. There are other things like tying accounts to credit cards, but it's a f2p game plus people can have multiple cards etc.
All in all I just don't think there is much that can be done.
okay thanks for the suggestion ill be looking forward to more from other players
Well one way might to be use social secuirty numbers like they do in Ragnorok 2 online in Korea. Personly I don't think it an viable option here in the states, but just throwing ideas out.
Stopping gold spammers is somewhat easy. However, with free generation, the problem can only be controlled. Of course, this does not get into gold farmers themselves which is the best place to attack the problem. Get rid of gold itself.
Multiboxers, botters, and other cheaters relies on detection. This takes more effort than any sane company is willing to expend. Detection is difficult to impossible without support from hardware manufacturers (and even then it is rather hard). It is better to attack this problem by making the game unattractive to botting and multiboxing.
Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.
Every account must have a valid credit card tied to it.
Before you can play, a small charge is made to the card to verify it is a real credit card.
A banned account = a banned credit card, any account tied to that credit card is also banned, and the card cannot be used to verify accounts in the future.
It's the way paypal verifies accounts, and it's worked pretty well for them.
("small charge" = 5-15 cents)
hmmm this is kind of difficult since its free to play and most minors wont be able to play it im thinking how about cellphone numbers you can register your cellphone number?
hmmm but not everyone has a cell phone too hmmm maybe somone has a better idea??
100% correct.
Limiting it to only one per IP address will only serve to piss off families who play together. The multi-boxers will find ways around it.
I think the multiboxer sightings is probably overrated to some degree. There were four of us playing today, friends and family, and when we travel we follow the fast ship in one straight line. Some people will probably accuse us of being multiboxers, but we're not. We are just gaming together. I think any "solutions" would just destroy what little grouping there is in the game and target people who have more than one computer and person behind an IP address, roommates, families, couples, students, etc.)
parrotpholk-Because we all know the miracle patch fairy shows up the night before release and sprinkles magic dust on the server to make it allllll better.
