This week's Community Spotlight focuses on the thread "Your top three best classes from any MMORPG" by Creslin321. Creslin321 is no stranger to the spotlight, having been spotlighted in a previous week, but this time he wants to find out what your favorite three MMO classes are.
Creslin321 kicks things off with his top three:
"1. Herald of Xotli - Age of Conan. The HOX was hands down one of the most fun damage dealing classes to play. Extremely high damage, extremely low health, every fight when fast and dangerous. They also got tons of cool abilities like the ability to transform into a demon. Topping everything off was the fact that they had a move called "I eat your heart" in which they rip the heart out of your chest Indiana Jones style and take a bite!
2. Druid - World of Warcraft. The WoW druid was so much fun because it could do just about anything. It was a tank with bear form, a melee DPS with cat form, and magic DPS/healing in regular druid form. Put this on top of a bunch of other shapeshifting abilities and you have a great class.
3. Bard - Everquest 1. The EQ1 bard was tons of fun to play, and bard classes sadly aren't included in most modern MMOs. The bard was awesome at kiting, it could even "swarm kite" where it charmed one monster only to have 10 other monsters beat the crap out of it and soften it up so the bard could get to kill. How cool is that!"

Hox was indeed a fun class.
Hmm this is going to be a odd one as its more a build than a class
Pre-CU SWG master pikes master teras kasi 0024 fencer 0400 medic
A truly awesome AOE beast of destruction and high defence with hminor heal ability arguably the best and most fluid combat animations to date.
This class/build stand out for me as it is the only game that has made you feel a hero in your storyline.
As I believe a TOR dev put it "Heroic is 1 guy taking on multiple enemys not multiple guys taking on a single enemy"
this is where so many MMO's mess up for me i do not want to beat on one guy for 30 secs-1hr it feels about as heroic as going to the shop for bread, the build i used meant I could jump headfirst into any PVP or multiple mob PVE without fear and truly did feel heroic.
Anything that tanks.
Warrior, paladin, guardian, dreadknight....
I'm a natural leader and only truly enjoy a class based MMO if im leading the adventure.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
Monk - EQ1
SWG - TKM/Fencer
Bruiser - EQ2
Vanguard-Barb
AOC-Sin / Barb / HoX
*Vanguard-BarD ..not Barb.. Doh.
1) Vanguard: Disciple - I just loved the mix of martial arts and healing
2) generally everywhere: Rangers - loved them in EQ2, AoC & LOTRO
3) WAR: Bright Mage: the fun of raining down Fire on Destro ppl trying to conquer a keep was just epic
special mention: SWG-Entertainer... yeah yeah I know...
People don't ask questions to get answers - they ask questions to show how smart they are. - Dogbert
Hmm... that is a good question.
I believe Minstrel in DAOC was a lot of fun back in the day. I remember playing my drums to get everyone around faster. It wasn't a POWERFUL class, but I had fun with it way back when.
Priest in WoW. Specifically DISC priest. I just enjoy healing people, and in this case I love causing bubbles all over the place.
SPG in WoT. Yep, I'm that dick who shoots you from across the map because you didn't kill my scouts in time.
Current Game: Asssasins Creed 2(PS3, Gamer Tag: Happy_Hubby)
Current MMO: World of Warcraft and World of Tanks
Former Subscribed MMO: Star Trek Online, Aion, WoW, Guild Wars, Eve Online, DAoC, City of Heroes, Shattered Galaxy, 10six.
Tried: Too many to list
I liked the Necromancer in GW's whats better then running through a cave with 8 minions running behind you cleaning up your mess.
IM still a fan of the DAOC hunter. NOt sure why. BUt since we were always considered a 'weak' class ...everyone underestimated me.
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Definitely the Disciple of Khaine. A healer that did damage and turned it into healing? Awesome..
1) Assassin - AoC: Combined with the great melee combat (preference) in AoC, I had never had as much with any class as I have had with the Assassin.
2) Monk - Guild Wars: It is probably the only healing class in any mmo I have actualy enjoyed playing, especially the prot line.
3) Ranger - Aion: The first real ranged class that I've enjoyed playing. Aion might have other problems but I really think they had enjoyable classes to play.
1) SWG back before it was destroyed: Bio-engineer. Loved creating the biggest nastiest beasties then putting them in a small rabbit body. Add creature handler to this list too
2) LOTRO- LM, loved how this class was a little bit of everything. Most complicated class I've ever played so far.
3) UO gathering classes in a heavy PK area.... so i'm a massocist (sp?) I like to play cat and mouse type scenarios. Node resource gathering though completely kills this unfortunately.
Anything that can shoot energy from their fingertips, or tank. Preferably both. So a paladin type or mage-knight i guess
My favorite class is NONE! What class are you, oh right, there is no such thing as class, it was just invented by some numbskull who wanted to segment players.
Give me a classless system any day, anything else is an abombination!
In EQ it was Cleric and Paladin.
WoW has been Priest and Shaman
LotRo Lore-Master, Minsterel, Hunter and Rune-Keeper.
Gikku
Vanguard Disciple, hands down as my favorite class out of any game.
Next two would be from LotRo: Rune-Keeper and Burglar.
1. WoW - Warlock
2. Guild Wars - Necromancer
3. FFXI - Red Mage
EQ1: Monk - I loved the class during my Kung-Fu phase
SWG: Doctor/Pistoleer - Futuristic Sci-Fi healers always trump fantasy healers (period)
WoW: Druid - Same reason as author. If you felt constrained by playing a druid you were obviously an idiot.
AoC: Herald of Xotli: Melee Mage, enough said. Only MMO I know of that focused on the idea of a battle mage instead of a pure caster.
LOTRO: Warden - This IMHO is the tank class that all other developers should look at as setting the bar. The whole gameplay mechanic of adjusting combos to comply with differing situations is what melee is all about.
SWTOR: Imperial Agent - Ranged (wow) rogue = pure win. Who could not love the idea of this?
Pre-NGE SWG: Master Bounty Hunter/Master Creature Handler - I loved pulling out two of my pets and having them tank my mark so I could stand back and take him down. Nothing beat it.
AoC-Dark Templar: A sword & board tank that drains health from their enemies, has retributive shields, and a pet tehy can summon to pull aggro off them to let the heals catch up.
WAR: Squig Herder-ranged class having multiple pet types to choose from and you can get eaten by your pet and run around spamming AoE's
AOC - Assassin, for many of the same reasons as stated for the HOX. But I have to say I do like the HOX equally along with all the AOC melee, stealth, and Shaman healer class. They are all fun and unique for other sterotypes.
LOTRO - Warden. I think the warden is the most demanding to play. Warden combat is a challenge solo or in a fellowship. It can seem like a madening version of button mashing "Simple Simon". But the class sings when you master the Gambit ability library at your comand.
EQ1 - Bard. Just pure fun. The EQ1 Bard was the jack of all classes with the amazing movement speed. I had to learn to stop before zone portals to make sure I wasn't traing a mob of 50 monsters a horizon away onto other poor slow moving souls.
SWG Spy deserves an honorable mention.
