Survival

Looking for a Survival game, no zombies, something along the lines of surviving a virtual environment? No Sims stuff either, I've developed a passion for sending sims to their digital deaths.

If anyone knows of a survival game please list it and I'll take a look when I can.

What do you mean by survival?

You mean a harder game with risk vs reward or a survival storyline setting like post-apolyptic or something . ..?

Just to clarify a little bit. They're "ghouls" in Fallout.

I'm looking for such a game as well. Have you tried Haven and Hearth? It was good but wasn't exactly what I was looking for. However you may like it ok.

But just to clarify, I'd love a straight survival game where you start out with nothing and just have to survive a brutal environment in a very dangerous world. It would be a great game to have permadeath in.

I found one since 1st post:

    Stranded 2

it's not bad, but I gotta admit it could be more complex. Then again it seems moddable so that's a plus. I could see huge potential if there's a mulitplay mod, and larger islands.

will keep looking but for now my focus is elsewhere of life.

Someone recommended to me a game called Dwarf Fortress. It has a survival mode called adventure mode. Also fortress mode is essentially a survival mode but of a group of dwarves instead of just one. I've been thinking a lot more about this concept of a survival game and how much I'd like to play one. I'll let you know if I come across any more.

Darkfall does not hold the players hand at all. In fact, the developers are quite cruel in a lot of ways (like acid pools in friendly cities that people can knock you in or pits out in the middle of nowhere that you may fall in and not be able to get out of). I love this game and have been playing it for 18+ months because of the occasional adrenaline rush it gives me and the challenge that no other game brings. It is hard as hell and 95% of the people who try it leave right away. FFA PVP with full-loot. You make a character and it dumps you in the world with nothing but a pathetic knife. Besides your house (which you may have to pay tax to keep to another player) everything in the game can be taken from you including your mount, city, hamlet, gear, . .. and there have been times where I have been camped out of the game and unable to play it because of other players winning so much.

You have good days and you have bad days and this game may piss you off more than any other at times but the good days are so much fun that no other game can match it. There are many ways to take care of your possessions though but the more that you have means the more that you will worry about losing it. What makes it really fun is winning others and taking their stuff!

Once you get used to it, it is not that harsh, but compared to every other game that I have played it can be the most harsh at times but there are always things that you could have done to avoid your loses. The PVP combat is similar to quake but a hell of a lot harder and more complex (like quake with 50 different options racing through your head) but the PVP is really not that often so you can find people who don't even enjoy PVP who love this game (the PVE is fun too because it is very realistic and the mob AI beats all other MMOs).

It is definitely one of those games where you may be too scared to risk getting up to go pee while logged in AFK at times.
