Question about 4.0 Patch

DrukqsDrukqs Member UncommonPosts: 28

Cataclysm is launching in November or December and I heard they will patch the game a bit before they release the expansion.

Does this mean patch 4.0 will have the brand new zones 1-60 etc and allow flying in Azeroth? Can someone give me details on what they are releasing before the expansion.

i guess anything that does not need the expansion will be avaliable, so the 1-60 zones, flying, talent tree's, Guild perks will go live then when the expansion is released the 80-85 content, two new races and their staring zones and all the other stuff.  But as I want to explore the new 1-60 with a goblin hunter it wont help me =(

Pretty sure the revamped 1-60 zones wont be available since the world changing "cataclysmic" event will only occur at the games launch. You will however get so experience the staged pre-launch events like gnomeregan and echo isles, the 1st part of which is already available in game right now.

afaik its just the talent trees, revamped stat system and probably the guild leveling system.

No new zones, no flying in Azeroth. But you can ride your flying mounts around on the ground, if that trips your trigger. Class changes are in and the pre-Cataclysm events and quests are on the Test Realms.

The 4.01 patch is on the PTR. You can jump on there and see what changes are coming. Sorry, no Worgen are availible.

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

Actually no. 4.0.01 has allthe class changes, stat changes. glyph changes, and talent trees. 4.0.03 is gonna have the 1-60 old world changes and will come out shortly before cat release. to give players a chance to play around in new azeroth.

this is what ive read at least. So unlike privous expacs this one will have 2 major patches leading up to cat. Its on the ptr now with 4.0.01 most of which by the way has been tested alot on beta servers already. From reading blues balance will probably be a problem as the new trees are gonna be balanced around level 85 not 80s.

I expect 4.0.01 to go live either next week or week after. with 4.0.03 coming out maybe a a month later. But thats my tmeline not blizz timeline. The truth is most of 4.0.01 has been dlownloaded in background already so it wont belong till it goes live.

  • kaliniskalinis Member Posts: 1,428

Oh and cataclysm is happening for everyone so blizz has stated over and over the new zones will be available before the release of the expac.

they said a little bit before so most likely only a week or 2 . If that.

Wrogen wont be included in any patch nor will goblins

New zones/races, archeology will all be in the new expac. New 1-60 zones  and race/class combos from what ive read on mmo champ will come out in patch 4.0.03 shortly before cats release.

Nah, I think the patch would be more of the setting up for the expansion, ie: the world events and such that will lead into the expansion.

You might be right about the talent changes and such going in, but I bet the rest will all be in/at the expansion launch.

So pretty much 4.0 will probably be the segway into the expansion stuff.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

No. The new world is being added when Cataclysm launches. The new patch basically adds some new UI features and emblem changes.

Just to clear things up.   There are 2 major patches coming BEFORE the actual box goes on sale.  So this entire process consists of 3 stages

4.01 -  Includes changes to talent trees and spells.  Also introduces all the new mechanisms like Hunter's focus.   Reforging is also being introduced with this patch.   More than likely this patch will occur around October 12.

4.03 -   This is where the world changes and it will happen WEEKS before the Cata box goes on sale.  This patch will add all the zone changes from 1-60.  It will also add all of the new class/race combos (not goblin and worgen).. so things like troll druids and tauren pallys.  It will also introduce the new troll/gnome starting areas.

Cata -  This is the actual box.   It will include the zones level 81-85 and the Goblin/Worgen races along with their starter areas.  it will also bring Archeology, flying in Azeroth and the beginning of Guild leveling and acheivements.

The big thing is that 4.03 is NOT the patch that is coming in the box.  4.03 (the actual destruction of the world) is coming weeks before you buy the box.
