Creepy/Weird MMO moments

Have you guys ever experienced creepy/weird MMO moments. It could be npc related like a mob freaked you out or another player in my case.

creepy moment # 1

I remember one guy in everquest that always liked grouping with me. One day when I decided to do something solo his tone started changing from normally cheerful to emo. He threatened to kill himself if I didn't group with him. hm I don't remember seeing him on after that day.

creepy moment # 2

In FFXI we invited a mithra (cat girl race) to our group. After a while we started getting comfortable chatting with each other. The mithra from out of nowhere started chatting (with himself) in detail about his exploits in the gay adult entertainment business.

While doing a quest in Goldshire I came across some .....roleplayers? In a cabin not to far off of the actuall village. I wouldn't have ever even seent hem if they hadn't been in a building  that had a quest object I needed.

<Player> runs his hands through <players> silky brown hair.

I've actually never encountered any weird moments in goldshire but apparently theres actually an article about goldshire being a hot spot for ..bad behavior. A father saw what went on in there, cancelled his son's account and wrote Blizzard about it. Blizzard responded apologetic and said that they would  closely monitor that area.

The first mmo wedding I saw was pretty weird to me. They went all out and had everything that a real wedding would have. I just stood there and asked myself...why do people do this? (yeah I'm not much of a roleplayer)

A husband and wife I knew used to play with me and their relationship was going thorugh quite a rough path at the time so the husband decides to block his wife and says quite a lot of smack about her (They currently didn't live together and were in seperate countries). In the middle of all this im left to comfort the wife whos pregnant with those hormones, I was scared....very scared. Needless to say I quit the game not too long after the incident.

Well role-playing I kind of understand but people that actually get married in game is kind of just creepy to me, I understand that its kind of cool and a fun thing to do if your just joking around but an actual formal wedding in game is taking it too far.

Guild Wars several years ago.  I'm in a random PUG that is doing a chain of missions all at once, and I'm a male player that happens to be playing a female character (a ranger).  After the first mission or two, I tell everyone I need to go to an outpost to grab something (I think it was a skill).  One of the guys says he has to get skills too, so we split the group and he comes with me.

Once we get to the outpost and its just us in the group, he asks if I want to cyber with him.  I was initially shocked, then started laughing.  I was spacing out on a reply other than "no thanks" when he wrote back:

"It'd suck if you were a guy though..."

..cyber. It's been so long since I've heard that term used. I thought it went extinct or something......so people actually still do that....interesting

Oh god, back in my days with FFXI. I was part of a good guild, got to know them quite well. Then apparently one of the guy's wife in the guild decided to take a liking to me. Then talk to me about a bunch of random shit, then she went off about how her husband beats the crap out of her, and chokes her... just straight out treats her like crap. I said ummm maybe you should leave him???????!:????????????!??????????? EH????????!????????

She told me she couldn't because, he said he would kill himself (who cares???)... if she did. And she couldn't live with her self.. if he actually did.

I was like okkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk you have fun with that... BYE!!!

lmao, oh my.. i don't get that, but that creeped me the f out.

There is this one guy in flyff  who always invites me to his party, buff me and sometimes leech me. He was very nice to me in game. Then one day he asked me where I was living but I didn't tell him. Then, I don't know if it's to get my trust or for whatever reason, he told me his story that he has been hiding from his family and relatives for years because he has stabbed his cousin to death because his cousin was annoying him. After that, I didn't talk to him ever again. Good thing I didn't tell him where I live.

    1. In my first MMO - Rubies of Eventide - there was some guy that wanted to roleplay having a relation with my female toon. And also thought that i was female in RL too...

    2. In WAR, we were in a dungeon and there were 2 people that we had invited together earlier on (they were friends)... After a lot of time in the dungeon i had completely forgotten that fact, and one of these 2 left the group. He was the tank also - our only tank. Now it wasn't the first time something like that happened to me in that dungeon so all my anger decided to get out this time and i shouted something like "omg what an idiot ffs" in party chat... then after a few seconds i remembered the other guy is his friend. And a few seconds later on he rejoins saying "oh sorry i left the group by mistake". I felt like an ass :(

    3. In WAR again, some party in a PQ, and the healer goes afk but without telling so. After a few sec some other person from the group says he is afk and i thought that he just noticed him from being still like i had noticed him already, and i whiper her "he is so slow anyway" and she replies "He is my hubby"...

    4. I am not sure about the game, it was either WoW or WAR. I wrote something very adultish / hardcore to the party chat (can't recall exactly what) and then i realized i was in a PuG so i ask "Hm everyone here is an adult heh?" and someone replies "Im 13"...

    5. In WAR, someone on Ventrilo was talking shit all the time like a 15 year old junkie - very annoying.

Several times I was on vent in EVE with a guy in my first corp and he would be yelling at his wife? girlfriend? mom? every so often stuff like "B&*$%, i said I'd come to dinner when I'm damn well ready!" and "why you always busting my balls  motherf&*(&@." And then he'd come back to talking about what ever fleet op we were doing in the most calm manner, like nothing was out of the ordinary.

Not creepy but weird...I was playing City of Heroes and was...admittedly...being sortof an a$$ and asking a guy in party named something like Artic Knight, where he got the name 'Artic'.

He said, "you know, from my ice powers"

I said 'no I still don't get it.' He said, 'lol fail. google it."

I pretended to google it and said, "still confused, why would you name you character after the Art Institute of Chicago?"

FINALLY, someone said, "He's trolling you cause you are missing the C from ArCtic."

He went on to curse me (which I deserved) and kick me from the PUG (which I thought was a little harsh, but hey I was being stupid for fair enough)

Then about 15 minutes later I get a tell from Arctic Knight thanking me for pointing out the spelling mistake.

Probably the most awkward thing that has ever happened to me was while I was playing FFXI, I was flirting with a RL guy friend of mine in private chat, or at least I thought it was private chat. I miss-telled at least 5 times into Linkshell (aka guild) chat with some very embarrasing lines. My friend then called me on my phone and said he could not stop laughing! It took a while for my Linkshell to let me live it down!

Other than that, I did have a creepy stalker who was a member of my Linkshell for bit but I ended up ignoring him and he went away.

I played Wow before and usually with my bf and his guild. One time I was playing myself and I joined a group and while we are waiting for quest to start one of the guys find out I am a girl and he starts to talk more. Saying things like he is starting to make amature porn and he is looking for a new gf and asking if I want to trade pics with him. I told him I am not interested and I have a bf and then he quit the group. I forgot about him for a couple weeks and then he message me and ask if I want free gold and he sent me his phone # and ask me to call him. It was very creepy.

Well can't recall much but I remember on vent from WAR i think, one guy would seriously talk forever and usually you know theres one guy calling clear comms for direction, but he did it on himself! "HAHA,Nice juicy steak for dinner, hey warband is upp, get on it join join join. CLEAR COMMS"  ...wtf? I really can't forget about that, he had an 'Boston' accent & it was freaking annoying.

Gaming online since a looooong time, I never had anyone trying to cyber with me. Kinda odd how often it seems to happen to you guys, maybe it's an us american habit?

Can't remember anything really weird happening, just the normal "not so nice people". Example:

I was in a PUG in WoW.  As we enter the dungeon, the tank says: "oh sorry, I forgot I now have to take my dog outside."

Next he says: "can you please kick me from the group? If I quit the group now I get the deserter debuff."

I reply: "but the debuff wears off after half an hour. And if you go now outside with the dog anyway, what do you care about the debuff? Just quit the group please, so we can find a new tank."

For a short time he says nothing. Then he replies: "ok, if you don't want to kick me, I just stand here doing nothing. Good luck doing the dungeon without a tank!".

Or as a nother random example:

Was in another PUG in Wow. Several engineering recipes drop. Everyone rolls "greed", just the tank rolls "need". I check the character: wearing no engineering items or engineer-altered items at all. I check the characters professions: no, he is not an engineer.

Me: "uhm, you are not an engineer. So don't roll need on engineering recipes?"

Him: "I need them for an alt"

Me: "well, I'm sure most of us, including me, got another character with engineering too. So don't roll need."

    Him: "I need them anyway"

Me: "ok, you won the last one by rolling a 83. Let's see what I roll." I roll, and everyone sees me rolling a 97.

Me: "I rolled a 97. Hand it over please and stop ninja-looting"

Him: "the hell I will hand it over!"

I get kicked from the group.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

I've had several creepy experiences in MMO's.

    1)  I was a clan leader in Lineage 1 when one of my members felt I wasn't paying enough attention to him and was being "unfair."  The situation deteriorated until he eventually threatened to come to my hometown and harm my children which was the end of me revealing anything about my real life in games from then on.

    2)  I was playing WOW and a female character (presumably being played by a female) started to latch on to me and started sharing more and more of her personal life/problems with me.  She started to suggest that we get together some time in real life and persisted even when I explained I was married.  Had to transfer servers.

    3)  Was playing COV and had one of my few female avatars, when another female avatar made friends with me which quickly deteriorated into a lot  suggestive lesiban love action.  Never was sure if it was a man pretending to be a woman pretending to be a lesbian or what.  Made a new character and moved on, but no more female avatars for me.

Early on in CoH they didn't screen the names very well. And of course in CoH you can make pretty hot characters without much on for a superhero costume.

So there's this pair, a male and female toon, and the female has not much on but a gas mask, and their names are Turd and Turdlover.

I walk around the corner, and run into them, they stop, I stop, and there they are, Turd, and Turd Lover.

I don't know, I just thought it was odd.

When I saw the title I began thinking about creepy, like in mob incounters, not people encounters.

In DAoC it was creepy, or dangerous, for my toon when I got to a dungeon far behind my group and had to catch up while stealthed.  In DAoC a purple color mob spelled danger and lots of purple mobs close together spelled lots more danger.

That type of thing was creepy or dangerous to my toon, even if he could stealth.  Some purple mobs could see through stealth and most could see you if you got too close.

As to real people in games, I have seen more than enough drama and worse.

I think that if anyone plays long enough he or she will make a mistake and say the wrong thing, an oops moment.

As to stalkers, clingers, "I'll kill myself"ers, and that sort, I do not have much trouble from a personal stand point because if I play a game long enough it eventually gets around that I am an old guy, which leaves out most man hunting women, and that I am a combat veteran from the Vietnam War and still tote guns around to this day, even sleep with them, so that causes pretty much everyone to leave me alone.

Guns do not keep people from becoming friends with me nor do they keep them from talking about things important to them.  Just because I am willing to blow the brains out of some crazed killer trying to get his hands on my wife does not mean I lack great restraint and know when and when not to use lethal force.

Life is short and we should have as much fun and enjoyment as possible while we can, at the same time understanding that we live in a violent world.  I know, I have been there and wish I had not.

If any person threatens harm to himself/herself or to premeditatedly kill someone else, for any reason, that person either needs professional help or a swift and early exit from this world if he or she tries to kill someone.

More than likely almost everyone in the United States, excluding the very liberal states, has had contact with or spoken to someone carrying a hand gun [with permit], and did not know it.  It is the same as a person being a 5th Don, he can kill you with his bare hands, but can be the best of people because of his character.  Chuck Norris, for example, though I am not sure of his Don.

I am a man and have had good chats with women.  I can have fun with anyone that wants a laugh, let women [or men] feel free to say anything to me that will get a laugh, or I can be someone that another can share a problem with.  If it involves people then life will emerge, you can't get away from it, unless you become a monk or hermit [not sure which is worse].

If what I said creeps you out, welcome to the real world.  However, I am not a thief nor do I wish harm on anyone, I am not a stalker, I give to the poor, love little children [no, not the way some nut-job sex manic does, I'm talking about love here, not some twisted lust - it is unfortunate that I have to clarify what love means, but in this "modern" age you never know...], and try to be friends to all that are around me.
