Square Enix has sent over boatloads of new screenshots from Final Fantasy XIV. The screenshots reveal the nation of Gridania and give fans a look at some of the locales in and around the country. Guilds are also features prominently including the Carpenters', Botanist, Leatherworkers' and Lancers' locations. Check out all of the screens in our Final Fantasy XIV gallery.

Very pretty game. Playing it just drove me too nuts to continue though. Feels like a bad console port at the moment. UI is probably the worst I've encountered in a game yet, in a beta yes... but still. I did like the class system and as someone that likes crafting (a lot) it does some of it well. Crafting items have quality etc... it's not just add 2 iron ingots get x sword over and over like the stapled on watered down crafting most games seem to have now.

Still though couldn't continue playing. It takes 10 buttons just to switch weapons atm and about 30 seconds. The mouse cursor seems to have been designed for a console so it feels very sluggish and is hard to use as well.

The best looking mmo to date, those screens are great.

Yes, the game isn't for evveryone and that's fine. I personally enjoy the way SE has developed their game and I am grateful to have the opportunity to experience something other then a WoW clone. one thing I can't seem to grasp is all these posts about the game being too hard or unintuative. I simply didn't have any problems getting the hang of pretty much all aspects from the ui to setting up weapon/action change macros and I never even played ffxi, are people really that dense or are they just unwilling to put forth the smallest amount of effort to enjoy something new and different.

Im sure the UI and game play will improve during and after the launch. The thing that bothers me is the Huge amount of time it will take to do anything. Even looking for gear and weapons if you cant make it your self you have to look and sometimes run after players that have items for sale even then you'll probably end up paying 300% more for the item than its actual cost to make.

This game feels like a Time sink, i know mmo's are made to kill time but killing time within time killed is just nuts. I would still try the game but i hate to think of how much time it will take just to make a pair of shoes.

Dang, I was hoping that this game would be less of a ridiculous pain in the ass than FFXI was.  As for making a macro to change weapons?  You need to look at the fact that the menu system is obtuse enough to require you to MAKE A MACRO TO CHANGE WEAPONS at a decent speed.  I'm withholding judgement on the game until I can play a trial, which won't happen for a little while, but mostly I'm hoping that it's got a difficulty similar to EQ, and the complainers are just too used to WoWish spoonfeeding.
