I am a european what should i do (Poll)

I am in doubt wether to join EU servers or US servers... The EU servers take 2 more weeks for F2P to arive and codemasters has a somewhat bad reputation compared to Turbine.

So what are other europeans doing..

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I am a life time VIP and have never stopped playing LOTRO. I have two accounts and 4 level 65 toons.

I like to RP on Laurelin, i would never play on a US server. I really don't want to tye all Americans with the same brush but the US servers i have played on in other mmorpg have some really childish people on them.

    Where is the option

"Voting with my vallet - currently not playing since CM is not offering same service as Turbine"

I'm considering returning, I played Lotro for some time a while ago. But I don't want to play on US servers because of lag, and I still have something against CM for forcing me to download nearly 10 gig client from free third party dowload sites after I purchased digital download edition directly from CM. I quess download wasn't included with my purchase of digidal download edition.

I'm all for free market and Milton Friedman is my hero, but I hope you realize that at this moment EU game is free? (free as free beer :D)

If you bought game in the past, you can log in, and play as you would be subscribed. This will last untill CM manages to put f2p on live servers. I think it's heck of a deal, hell it's not even a deal, it's no brainer for anyone, you can log in and try all functions of the game, so when game goes f2p you can decide if you wanna pay, or if you wanna walk away.

And about 3rd party download: I downloaded EU client from their torrent (you get it on CM official site), and I downloaded NA client from Turbine webpage. I prefered torrent from code masters, because it was as fast as direct download, and it was without any 3rd party bullshit (if you download from turbine, you have no choice but accept Pando media booster, it's harmless, but why use 3rd party crap that borders on malware, if you can get clean version via torrent)

if  you pick turbine  you can use this download site very few know its there so its unused and much much faster then the home page download , and pando media booster free " is how  i found it i cant use pando media booster" full download to my lap top on friday took just under 2 hours.

Codemasters is know to have a very bad rep, I would avoid them like the plague so i recommend just going with turbine.

A friend of me told me today, that Codemasters dislikes the f2p buisness, what also should have been the reason, why they canceled RF-Online in the past, since the asians wanted a cash shop there too.

No clue about the truth behind, but ill stick to the US servers.

Im all in for learning english and i think, everyone should do. Dont give Babylon a chance in our today's reality!

As a european player, the different licence policy for different world regions, is very annoying.

I like to play with people from the world, not with people from only a part of it.

Considering the massive amount of problems that Turbine has had, I really would hold off if I were a European player.

And why people are so darn eager for the F2P switch is beyond me. It's like why some men castrate themselves with rusty knives. People do it. They seem to enjoy it. But why, it's just baffling.

Codemasters are letting players without subscriptions login be it old player retuning or new players with a trial account which will run until new release gose live.

But would suggest any one on a trail account NOT to complete deeds if possible till EU gose to new release but on a plus just before fill up your quest and deed log for the payed areas as you will be able to complete anything already in them.

Also currently they have enhanced XP and free stable travel

So all in all not a bad alternative until issues are sorted

You need to stop doing whatever it is that caused you to type that second paragraph, or get help.

If I were a new English speaking LotRO player from Europe I think I'd join one of the new Turbine servers and stay there. There is a huge European population on Crickhollow for instance, which makes the server feel busy at all times of the day. Don't let people put you off with tales of massive queues, lag etc. There has only been one day where people were facing serious problems, most of the time it's been fairly problem free. No worse than you'd expect with any new mmo service.

For myself, I have a lifetime sub on the Codemasters servers so I wont be giving that up but I'll keep playing my Turbine characters too.

I've personally never had an issue with Codemasters. I care not about mylotro. I do care about my 20ms latency, being on the same schedule as everybody else and the progress I've made so far even though I'm nowhere near the level cap (LOTRO is about the journey IMHO). Thus I shall stay on the EU servers.

I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I thought this at first then they offered open ended trial accounts and as long as you keep in mind the issue about deeds ie not completeing them the following is not to bad for a new player till F2P is launched.

Though you get none of the new content and will loose a few store points the following is not a bad altenative for a new player

    1. Access to all SoA quests areas and deeds free

    2. No gold limit (excess gold will go in to escrow)

    3. No bag limit

    4.  5 charater slots (choose the 2 you want when F2P launches others will be locked)

    5. Enhanced XP and I believe rest bounus aswell

    6. Free travel

    7. Retain all quests and deeds in log even when they are in payed areas when F2P launches

    8. Monster play (PvMP)

I tried the us beta , was having issues whit ping... was constant over 200ms , it was playable but still considering the year we are in , latency should not be a issue anymore to ruin your gameplay ( if that was to happen ) .

So my advice is to wait for the eu start.
