im all patched up but every time i try to start game i get error time out, are the servers down .

I''m getting the same thing, pached and all, some lobby error timeout.

edit: lobby is still showing offline, thus the error, little bit longer I guess
Im getting the same error. The beta site doesn't say that servers are down.
They brought the servers down for maintenance an hour or 2 ago. Looks like theyr still down.
They said they would be down for 3 hours, so 40 minutes more. They may be up earlier though, so keep an eye out.
Lobby server is stilll down, thats why we cant log in.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

From the beta site:
From 9:00 to 12:00 (PDT) on Sep. 7, 2010, we will be performing maintenance on FINAL FANTASY XIV. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XIV will be unavailable.
So they should be back up soon if they finish on time.
