After posting about eve I got this attempted hacker email

erictlewiserictlewis Member UncommonPosts: 3,022

Ok here is the email that I just got in my inbox after posting on a eve topic.

Now the first thing that got my attention was the from blizzrd.com.  I knew it was a hack from the get go, I have not played eve in over a year, or wow in 3 years.  Also what does wow have to do with eve.  So these hackers,  I really find it odd that I get a hacker attempt right after I post about eve in the forums here on mmorpg.com.  So I sent a hacked report to wow, one to eve, used spamcop to file a report to the guys isp, and filed a ticked with microsoft hotmail.

Now when you look at the headers this is what I saw:

LOL I get those on many of my emails, and do not think it is associated with this site at all.. it is just coincidental.

I create a special email for each game I use, and never use them from the computers I play the games on. LOL

I get random emails for all sorts of games I do not even play that say the same things in emails not associated. It is not abnormal these days. Mark it as phishing scam and junk it.

When I get those for games I do not play, on emails never accessed by the same computer that I access this site with, nor are the emails linked to this site in any way I would assume this is just  a mass blanket scam, and it is coincidental about the timing. I received one too today, and I do not even play eve or post in that forum. LOL

I've been on the EVE forums since I got here and I haven't got a single one. I get thousands (literally) for WoW though.

You know where places like that get your emails? Shady bot & gold seller sites. You should probably stay away from those from now on.

However this was something funny a mix of blizzard and eve lol.  So the hacker does not know they by 2 different companies.

It is just very odd timeing, but who knows.
