Crusade time I guess. Templar vs Hassasin.

  • QSatuQSatu Member UncommonPosts: 1,796

It's simply a browser rts game like 1000 before it with quests involving information from the bible. It's nothing bad I was simply surpised by it. I didn't expect a game like this.

Of course it's not bad, but this is the internet and some might over react/take it the wrong way.

      That made me giggle :)

On a side note i'm by no means a religious person, but I don't see how or why this would start any sort of a flame war.

It's just a game like any other, maybe slightly more educational I guess. I havn't seen any christian friendy mmo's out there, and knowing how strict some parents can be about what their child is exposed to, this makes me happy to see the world of mmo's being opened up to them.

Ok, I am saying this as a historian, having a unversity degree in history. I usually don't harp on it, but I want to make crystal clear that what I say is not flaming but saying facts.

If anyone would make a Bible game, based on what REALLY happens in the stories of the Bible, then it would be only sold for age 18 or 21+ for the adult stuff.

II Kings 2:23-24 Prophet Elisha commands bears to tear apart and maim a group of children to death because they were mocking him. Quote: "23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."

You know how killing kids in games is usually rated.

Ezekiel 23:19-20: quote: "19 Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."  Gross description of sex.

Exodus 2:11-12 The description fitting any GTA or Mafia-like murder: " 11 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. 12 Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand."

Deuteronomy 25:11-12 For the description of excessive violence, befitting games like "Age of Conan":  "11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity."

1 Samuel 18:25-27 Sheer grossness: "25 Saul replied, "Say to David, 'The king wants no other price for the bride than a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.' " Saul's plan was to have David fall by the hands of the Philistines. 26 When the attendants told David these things, he was pleased to become the king's son-in-law. So before the allotted time elapsed, 27 David and his men went out and killed two hundred Philistines. He brought their foreskins and presented the full number to the king so that he might become the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal in marriage."

Sounds like some bizarre fedex quest, only instead of, bring me 100 rat tails, bring me 100 human foreskins. Yuck.

I could go on. There virtually is no sort of gross violence of inhumane act that is not in this book. Entire people are extinct as an act of genocide for the sake of having a different faith. The book advocates religious hate, the killing of social minorities like gay people, the subjugation of women under the dominance of men, the ideology of a chosen race and inheritely bad races (thus racism) and an entire legion of what we would regard as morally aborrent. Were it not the Bible. That is the thick pink glasses people wear. It is so full of things, if they were presented in ANY video game, it would be banned and forbidden in most countries or at least sold only to adult people in a fashion like porn.

Ignoring all religious context and content, I had to laugh at the blatant typos on their landing page.

"The Bible Online: Heroes is new browser based MMORPG with the turn-battle symstem of RTS, where the..." and so on.

    Really? Really.

Also entertaining are the company's other games in the context of Bible Online. Have a look at that artwork, and tell me what YOU covet.

While I agree that "The Bible Online:  Uncensored" would qualify for an Adults Only rating, and while I am an atheist myself, with a not very high opinion of religion, I disagree with your last paragraph.  Human beings will commit atrocities against other human beings for any reason or for no reason at all, but usually our species kills for resources, and almost all religious wars are actually resource wars with a 'polite' veneer of sanctity on top.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

The Bible, especially the Old Testament, is actually full of some badassery. Even if you aren't religious in anyway, the Old Testament has a bunch of epic battles and God bringing wrath on folk and it can actually be kind of cool to read. I mean, the RPG Exalted suggests you read the Bible to get an understand of the epic campaigns you can undertake!

On the actual game, I am kind of disappointed. Browser based MMOs are lame IMO. I don't know what I would like to see, but I actually am not opposed to an MMO in such a setting.
