Quitting and not having to do 8 hours of raiding to get ahead in a game.

My fondest memory would be looking back at how WoW has fought to advance the color purple.

I do not understand statements like this. I havnt played WOW in two years and will never play it again. However, I have nothing to gain from the game closing. I made a few friends in that game that remain freinds today and I had a lot  of  fun and made some memories.

WOW isnt great because it has 12 million players. WOW has 12 million players because its great.

    That it died....

Darkshore, the Barrens, and Hillsbrad during the first few months. After that, everything went downhill.

I especially refer to when things had some level of difficult (albeit not much), such as the druid quest that involved swimming to get a bauble out of the water. You had to do it correctly, and there was the chance you could die trying. You had to find it, and that itself was difficult because you had to track down people that knew. It was interesting and challenging, so unlike the WoW of today.

    WTF? No subscription fee?

I hope it never happens because that means all those retards will come to other games.

Fine, we'll compromise. I'll get my way & you'll find a way to be okay with that.

Menethil Harbour. That was awesome. I remember being so scared. I would usually be going the other way, to get to Ironforge, to play with my Human and Dwarven friends.

Hitting level 40 on my 14 day free trial and deciding the game was to simple for me.

Probably raiding ICC for the first time or convincing my college friends to abandon an ICC raid Mid-Saurfang pull to drive me to Burger King.

The day it shut down and a glimmer of hope returned to the long dead/dying MMORPG genre.

Seriously, I've never had LESS fun playing an MMO than I did with WoW. It was so generic, easy, and uninteresting I couldn't stand it. There was literally nothing in the game that an older MMORPG hadn't already done better. I would say "I wonder how it took off", but I do know, and it makes me sad that a quality MMO didn't hit such success.

Watching my younger brother curse and yell at the computer screen during his guild raids against a backdrop of dirty glasses, mountain dew cans and dirty dishes that our mother has been asking him to clean up for the past 5 years.

Making the journey to Westfall on my lowly gnome rogue and questing there. My favorite zone then, and my favorite zone now.

The music and everything in that zone felt the most believable of all the zones they had to offer.

What do you consider a quality MMO? Even by factual standards Blizzard has always had extremely high quality products. You may not like them, but they certainly hold a very high bar for quality.

Just curious how you managed to hit level 40 in the trial, since every trial I have seen caps at 20...

Maybe a link to aid me here?

The first time I logged in and played for a couple of hours. It was my first MMO, so everything was new and amazing. I was hooked after that. Played for a few years until TBC killed all the fun for me.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

The day it died. :) Nah I am just messin, I'm just tired of getting notifications that my account keeps getting hacked. It's getting rather obnoxious... and my fondest memory would be the day my guild downed Yogg first on my server, that was good day. I never got to see when we downed Arthas, I quit shortly after the release of that part of ICC.

I always loved how WoW attracted the bad players so I didn't see them in my games.

I'd miss that, its my gasmask in a world of mentally challenged nervegas.

    Several actually.

My son and I downing Ragnaros back in the early days and being in the 3rd guild on our server to do so. (KT)

Completing the Onyxia quest line for the first tme and getting keyed for the instance.

Falling asleep during the final boss fight in BWL right after our raid leader threatened to punish anyone who went ninja afk and getting "fined" 10,000 dkp. ( I only had about 800 dkp at the time)

Falling asleep while waiting to launch into an Onyxia fight and waking up at her feet with the raid leader going "What the F are you doing Kyle!!!!!!"... (another 1000 or two DKP fine after that wipe I think)

    Fondest memories...

    • My first pick up group in Deadmines

    • Open world pvp (pre-battlegrounds)

    • All of the months played before expansions.  (I dislike how expansions spread out the population)

    • Questing a Human rogue through about level 20.

    • Taming Broken Tooth on my hunter for the first time way back in the day

Although I am not subscribed at the moment I have very few negative memories of WoW.  I just know how to use the /ignore.  :)

My fondest memories would be with my character (Undead Mage). Leveling up to level 60. AoE grinding mob packs after another mage buddy I met in my guild started showing me up. Everything from my first dungeon (RFC) to doing Alterac Valley (48 hour matches) to downing Rag after weeks of attempts with my first guild will always sitck with me. I don't expect anything to replicate that ever again in any game I play, but I hope I am wrong!

Blizzard is high on polish, not so much quality. Their ideas are insanely simple and fool proof, and they never spend development time coming up with ideas (because all their ideas are just ripped from other games) so all their MASSIVE budget goes into "polish".

A quality game would be one of the pioneer MMOs, that did so much more with so much less. Dark Age of Camelot, for one.

    I can't say any one memory but;

    • My old guild earlier this year. We raided late, we were almost always all drunk and we had a freaking blast. I can't get that kind of enjoyment out of any other game.

    • I met one of my closest friends in WoW 2 years ago, and we still keep in touch

    • I met another friend just four days ago. Her and I constantly talk about books, movies, random crap. We have each others contact info, but I'd miss that back and forth in-game whilst doing dungeons.

    • WoW being my first subscription MMO, it holds a place in my heart, for both the good and bad.

    As with all MMO's

The fondest moments are those i shared with others socialising.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
